Roy Oswalt Four Hits The Mets In A 3-0 Loss.
Mets bats were kept to just four hits in the game as they fall 3-0 to the Phils and lose the series 2-1. Niese pitched seven innings giving up three runs and eight hits. Bullpen kept it together for the last two innings, but Roy Oswalt four hit the Mets in a complete game shutout for him.
Game Summary
Jon Niese was either giving up a run in an inning or getting guys out quickly. Despite giving up eight hits (5 singles) and a homerun, he only gave up three runs to the Phils. He pitched seven innings of three run baseball. He walked two batters but struck out six in the game. His supposed “limited innings” doesn’t seem to be going into effect as he pitched seven innings with 101 pitches.
Feliciano and Acosta again combine to pitch the eighth inning giving up no hits, each getting a strikeout. Old man Dessens pitched a scoreless ninth inning, giving up a hit and a walk. Again, our bullpen pitches great in losing efforts.
Our offense fell silence today by the likes of Roy Oswalt. He kept the Mets to just four hits in his complete game shutout victory. The only hits for the Mets came from Niese, Reyes, Pagan and Beltran.
David Wright struck out three times in the game.
Game Ball
The bullpen kept it together today.
