Gee, Thank The Heavens For Nick Evans – Mets Win 1-0 Over Bucs

Mets take the series opener against the Pirates with a 1-0 win in ten innings. Gee pitched another great start while the bullpen kept it together again. The offense fell silent again with the exception of Nick Evans’ walk-off RBI hit.

Game Summary

Dillon Gee continues to impress with another great start tonight. Manuel wants to limit him with innings but he still made it to over 100 pitches in the game. Gee was dominate with six innings pitched, only giving up five hits and walking four batters and striking out three. Three of those five hits were kept to singles with only two guys getting doubles. Gee’s ERA through his first two starts is 0.69. That’s impressive!

The bullpen continues to keep it together as Dessens, Feliciano both pitched a scoreless inning, with a strikeout each. While Takahashi pitched two scoreless innings with a strikeout and a walk.

The Mets rally together seven hits in ten innings tonight. Gee, Ike and Tejada all hit doubles with Nick Evans hitting the only Mets RBI in the game for a walk-off hit.

Lucas Duda went 0-3 tonight. His average has dropped to .031 for his rookie season.

Turning Point

Nick Evans walk-off RBI to win the game.
