So Close… Dickey Rises To The Occasion!

R.A Dickey bounced back from a bad start better than anyone could have imagined. Dickey went all the way on a complete game one-hit shutout.

Its was the fifth time this season that the Mets have shut out the Phillies. The only season it happened more was in 1969 (7 times), when the Mets won the World Series.

Dickey handed the Phillies without any trouble, with the lone hit coming from the opposing pitcher Cole Hamels. Carlos Beltran drove in the only run of the game, and RBI double that just missed being a two run homer.

Angel Pagan dishes out a well deserved shaving cream pie to R.A. Dickey. Dickey is now 8-5 with a 2.43 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. Does anybody miss John Maine?
