Reyes Injury Shows How Woeful Middle Infield Could Be
At some point today, the Mets will make a determination on the injury status of shortstop Jose Reyes who aggravated his oblique muscle and was removed from last nights game. Given Reyes’ recent injury history, there’s a very good chance he will be placed on the disabled list and even a very small chance he could be shut down for the rest of this season. Two names that have been battling it out for playing [...]

My Obligatory Lucas Duda Post
With the unsurprising news that Mets top outfield prospect Fernando Martinez is once again ailing on the DL, I’m losing patience in that entire situation. The teenage hitting machine has failed to show me any skills worthy of his enormous hype. The minor leagues are full of prospects with a .277 minor league batting average, and for now that’s all F-Mart really is and has been. Just a mediocre talent performing at a mediocre level [...]

Morning Grind: New GM, Follow The Money, Reyes Trade, September
Good Morning, Met Nation. Never a dull moment in the Nation. Might be much maligned, underachieving, mocked by many, but never boring….. Omar Minaya Looks like the beleaguered GM is again the subject of speculation as to who would be a “suitable” replacement. Kevin Towers, Pat Gillick and Rangers GM Jon Daniels, John Ricco and Wayne Krivsky are all being considered by some columnists and fans alike. Billy Beane is my own personal choice and [...]

Pelf Great, Bullpen Holds, Mets Win 2-1
In the closest game that the Mets have played in recent weeks, Mike Pelfrey pitched an eight inning gem and after Bobby Parnell got into trouble, Hisanori Takahashi closed the door and the Mets won 2-1. Game Notes Mike Pelfrey pitched a gem today, going eight innings giving up six hits and two walks and striking out four. Pelf was great today, after a long first inning buckled down and started retiring batters effectively and [...]

Ron Darling Calls Out Fernando Martinez
One of the things that I love best about Gary, Keith and Ron, is that they can make their coverage of the Mets so entertaining and educating too, all while remaining objective at the same time. Their passion for the Mets is unquestioned and they do feel our pain. It’s their objectivity that puts them among the best broadcast teams in baseball. Last night during the Mets broadcast, the subject of Mets prospect Fernando Martinez [...]

Jason Bay To Begin Workouts
Five weeks after crashing into a wall and suffering a concussion, Mets left fielder Jason Bay is going to begin his rehab and resume working out. He is unsure about how long it’s going to take, but he expects to return this season and wants to play, even if it’s only for the final week of the season. Here is a video of Jason Bay talking to reporters on Friday courtesy of ESPN New York. Obviously, Bay’s [...]
