Hell No, We Won’t Go! Join The CitiField Sit Out!

An article by posted on August 7, 2010

A couple of Mets bloggers led by our own Coop, are leading the charge and asking Mets fans to join forces and make a statement on August 25th, by NOT going to Citi Field. Coop writes on her blog My Summer Family,

Don’t go to CitiField on Wednesday, August 25. We do know it’s hard to round up enough people to make a true “statement” over the course of several games. Especially for those of us who have already purchased a full or mini season package. The tickets are paid for and we ALL know they look at “paid” attendance, and not “actual turnstyle” attendance.

However, if no one is IN the seats for ONE game…the tag lines will be “The Day CitiField Went Silent.”

Make sure you read her entire post.

Also, our own Joe Spector has started a Facebook Group to help keep everyone informed and connected. He writes,

We are all Mets fans. We bleed orange and blue. All we want is a team to be proud of, a team worth giving our hearts to and our hard earned money.

The Mets have an ownership that takes our pride, our loyalty and our dollars for granted

If you feel like so many of us do, and would like to participate in making a convincing show of solidarity to let the Wilpons know just upset you are over your teams performance in recent years, then join the movement and become one with all of us.

As Coops says,

“If you’re pissed off or disappointed enough, then do something about it and join our cause. Twitter campaigns and Facebook events can be the next generation of grassroots change”.

I Love It!

Imagine the SNY broadcast showing Citi Field with tens of thousands of empty seats… What a wayto make a bold statement and let the Wilpons know that we are mad as hell and we’re not gonna take it anymore!

Imagine the headlines the next day, or the top stories on local and national sportscasts.

Let’s show our love for the Mets, by watching from home or from a viewing party,  for just one day.

Let’s make a statement that is so loud that they will have to take us seriously and no longer take our love of the team for granted.

Lets Go Mets!
