8/30 Minor League Report! MEJIA MEJIA MEJIA!

AAA International League: Buffalo 1/6/0, Syracuse 4/9/0

Jenrry. Mejia. This time in Buffalo, had another oustanding outing, the most impressive of his last 3 by far, he went 8 innings, allowing a run on 5 hits with 9 strikeouts for a tough ND. Over his last three outings, the first 2 in AA, and then this one, he’s gone 22 innings and allowed just 9 hits and 1 run, with a 6/19 bb/k. Lucas Duda had a hit and walk, Nick Evans had 2 hits, including a double.

The Mets were down 6-0 after 2 innings, but rallied to tie it up at 6 with a 5 run top of the 5th, only to see Robert Carson give up a 7th run in the bottom of the inning, the margin of defeat tonight. Overall, the Mets had 15 hits and a 1/4 BB/K, while going 7 for 16 (.438) with RISP and leaving 10 on base. Six Mets had multi hit games, no Met took an 0-fer.

Offense wasn’t the issue for the Gnats, pitching was, as Taylor Whitenton recorded just 5 outs while getting slaughtered for 9 runs on 10 hits and 3 walks. The Gnats had 12 hits and a 3/15 BB/K, while going 6 for 13 (.462) with RISP and leaving 5 on base. Four Gnats had multi hit games, while Jordan Abruzzo (0 for 5, 2 Ks, .235) and RJ Harris (0 for 4, 4 Ks, .202) took 0-fers.

Carlos Vasquez has pitched terrific in two outings in Kingsport, and has a ND and loss to show for it. He gave up a run on 4 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings for the loss tonight. The Mets had just 3 hits and a 5/6 BB/K, and if milb.com didn’t suck, I’d tell you what they did with RISP, too.
