8/22 Minor League Report! FERNANDEZ!

AAA International League: Buffalo 2/7/2, Pawtucket 9/12/0

Per Bisons beat writer Mike Harrington: @BNHarrington: Nieuwenhuis was in Cali at a wedding last 2 days. FMart tweaked knee. Herd had nine position players in 2nd game. Ugh. Follow him on Twitter, the @ is given…

Josh Stinson’s AAA debut was going very well for the first 5 innings, he had given up 2 unearned runs on 3 hits in the first, then no hits over the next 4 innings, but it all came crashing down around him in the 5th inning, when after he was staked to a 3-2 lead, he gave up 2 homers and 4 hits, leading to his final ugly line. Justin Turner was injured on a freak play, when a ball ricocheted off Nick Evans, and Turner’s knee buckled when he tried to change direction. Fernando Martinez suffered a slight injury to HIS right knee in the game, as well. Keep in mind the turf was very slick.

Aside from a cosmetic 3 run 9th inning HR by Marshall Hubbard, the Mets were largely stlfled today, despite 11 hits and 5 runs, losing 9 to 5. Dylan Owen had a rare subpar outing in AA, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits in 4+ innings to take the loss. A+ Florida State League: St. Lucie 11/13/1, Jupiter 5/5/2

Jeurys Familia’s final line may not indicate it, but this was yet another positive start for the 20 year old right hander. He’d gone 5 scoreless, allowing just 2 hits with 5 strikeouts before gettng punished for 5 runs (3 earned) in the 6th inning, he earned his 5th win of the season, nonetheless, as the Mets offense exploded for 11 runs on 13 hits and a 2/16 BB/K ratio (yuck much?).
