AAA International League: Buffalo 4/10/0, Pawtucket 6/9/0

Michael Antonini got crushed for 6 runs on 9 hits in 6 innings to take the loss, and the prospecty middle of the Bisons order were just 3 for 12 to night with 4 strikeouts and no walks, a far cry from last night’s showing. Kirk Nieuwenhuis took an 0-fer with the Silver Sombrero (3 Ks, lol).

Met pitchers bent heavily, but didn’t break tonight, giving up 18 hits and 4 walks, leading to 9 runs, and despite facing the tying run in the top of the 8th, escaped with a win. Roy Merritt picking up the final 4 outs for his 7th save of the season. Robert Carson got destroyed for 5 runs on 11 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings, but got his first AA win anyway.

The Met offense had 14 hits and a 4/6 BB/K ratio themselves, while going 7 for 12 (.583) with RISP and leaving 9 on base. Raul Reyes, Sean Ratliff, Josh satin and Brahiam Maldonado had multi hit games, Jordany Valdespin left after 1 AB.

Brad Holt had a … meh outing tonight, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings, but walking 5, bringing that total to 37 in 49.1 innings, and a total of 60 in 79.1 innings on the season. Eric Turgeon took the loss after giving up a run in the 8th inning.

The Mets offense had 8 hits and a 3/4 BB/K ratio, while going 2 for 9 (.222) with RISP and leaving 11 on base. Pedro Zapata took the only 0-fer, no Met had a multi hit game.

Alonzo Harris, Robbie Shields, Alex Gregory, Dock Doyle and Wilfredo Tovar had multi hit games, while Nick Santomauro, and James Schroeder (0 for 2, 2 runs, BB, .250) took 0-fers. Taylor Whitenton struck out 11 over 5 innings to pick up his 7th win.

Prospect watch: Darrell Ceciliani was moved up to leadoff tonight, and had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Cory Vaughn had a single and walk. Brian Harrison had a single and 2 walks, Juan Centeno walked once and scored twice, Yohan Almonte fired 7 shutout innings for his 7th win, and Ryan Fraser gave up 2 runs in his 2 innings, but picked up his 9th save nonetheless.
