Honesty Begets Loyalty
So I was thinking about urinals…..No I’m kidding, that was a fun blog to write though! As the trade deadline hovers over the sports world, we’re all following tweets and refreshing espn.com several times a day just to see if any deals have been made. Are the Mets making any moves? Are we getting a veteran pitcher? What about the bullpen? Something occurred to me last night as I was looking over the Oswalt deal, [...]

Mets Trade Mike Jacobs For PTBNL
The Mets have traded Mike Jacobs to the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named later. Jacobs, 29, began the season with Mets, but after slow start was demoted to AAA-Buffalo, opening the door for Ike Davis who has thrived. Jacobs was hitting .260/.313/.478 for Buffalo with 23 doubles and 15 homers. Nick Evans has been promoted from AA to to replace Jacobs in AAA.

NL East Report
Atlanta Braves: (58-43; Leader) The Braves remain in talks for maybe a bat or a reliever, but it’s likely that they stand pat. The Braves dropped two of three to the Nationals, and have been particularly inconsistent since the Break, going 6-7. They play the Reds this weekend. Philadelphia Phillies: (56-46; -2.5) Well, by now you’ve heard about Roy Oswalt going to Philadelphia. Oswalt makes his debut tonight against the Nationals. Like they need the [...]

Darryl Strawberry And Dwight Gooden Enter Mets Hall Of Fame
Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden enter the Mets Hall of Fame. Sure this sounds nice and it is a good PR move and maybe it will sell some more tickets for Sunday afternoon. But it’s a mixed blessing. This is my problem with it. The mid eighties, when both came up to the big team were the years that – my niece and I- spent a lot of time on the third tier behind home [...]

Is R.A. Dickey The Real Deal?
Unfortunately for me, the MMO mailbag did not generate as much hype as I thought it would. So at Joe’s suggestion, I’m going to take a shot at a bit of a thought provoker as we all take in this Friday morning. R.A. Dickey : If you don’t know that name, you should by now. He never had much success as a normal pitcher, so a little while ago, Dickey decided to learn how to [...]

The Omar Minaya Way or The Ruben Amaro Jr. Way?
I came across an interesting article on MetsBlog, well a Tweet really, but basically it read: MLB note: in the last 366 days, the Phils have traded away 8 of their top 10 prospects from 2009, and 4 of their top 6 prospects from 2010. It was originally tweeted by chrisguzy I wound up having a little debate about it with a friend, who said, The Phillies also have two World Series trips in that [...]

Who’s To Blame For The Mets’ Season
Omar? Jerry? The Wilpons? The Met fans? Or all the above? The talk has been out there for months, specifically since the Madoff scandal that supposedly and was purported to have crippled the Mets in their 2010 spending. But now, with the onset of the Phillies-Astros trade for Roy Oswalt, the debate has risen to a fever pitch and the battle lines are clearly drawn. But where does the fault, if any, actually lie in [...]

Game Preview: Diamondbacks vs Mets
The Mets and the Diamondbacks open up a series tonight in Citi. The Mets are coming off of their first series win since they faced the Twins in interleague play and it couldn’t have come at a more critical time for the Mets this season (although this season it seems like we are having critical moments every two weeks). Anyway the Mets will get to take on Kennedy again while the Pelfrey will be heading [...]
