Doo… Dah… Dippity…
Every now and then, my corny side rears it’s ugly head and you end up getting a silly post like this. But this is supposed to be fun, right?
With the trade deadline only five days away, things are getting kind of dicey. Lee and Haren are already gone, but there’s still some solid choices out there for the Mets who could use a starter or a shut down reliever.
The choice is yours, the choice is yours…

Roy Oswalt (6-12, 3.42 ERA 1.109 WHIP)

Joakim Soria (2.25 ERA, 1.124 WHIP, 27 Saves)

Fausto Carmona (10-7, 3.51 ERA, 1.283 WHIP)

Zach Grienke (6-9, 3.59 ERA, 1.134 WHIP)
But This Is Kinda Phat!!!

Went to my first Mets game, a Mayors Trophy game at Shea, in '73. We beat the Yankees 8-4 and I was hooked. I marched in two Banner Day parades, and before the Grand Slam single, there was the "Hendu Can Do" grand slam - I was there. I've collected Mets memorabilia all my life and started Mets Merized Online to feed my addiction.

Very Good! LOL
Joe, I love your corny side! This was funny.
I didn’t realize that Ollie only has three wins since his signing.
My choice would be Carmona, but the Indians are not wanting to part with him. I never wanted Oswalt, Lilly’s decreasing velocity is a concern, Soria is great but Minaya is too proud of his Frankie signing to go after a closer.
I know Grienke is everyone’s favorite, but the guy had one good season and you can’t blame it all on the team he plays for.
Dave, I think you should go take a look at Greinke’s career stats. First off, he is just coming into his own. Granted, he has 1 bad year, but every other year was pretty good. Career numbers:
H/9 HR/9 BB/9 K/9 K/BB ERA
9.1 0.9 2.2 7.6 3.44 3.71
Again, this is including his 1 bad year. Granted, it’s a small sample size, but if you look at his last 3 years (including this one), he is a legit #1 starter, that I for one, would LOVE to have on this team.
This is a little easier to read:
H/9 9.1
HR/9 0.9
BB/9 2.2
K/9 7.6
K/BB 3.44
ERA 3.71
Grienke is HUGE. How can you say he’s had just one good season? He’s young, and getting better, and his stuff is NASTY. There’s no way in hell the Mets would pay the price, so it’s a mute point, but he is the best pitcher on this list. Realistically, the Mets should set their sights on Carmona so we agree there.
hahaha very cool! i know some rumors have grienke available, but i dont understand why the royals would trade him??? I like carmona, he is still young and has years left on his contract. like soria alot too.
I think Carmona would be the easiest to obtain because of the Indians payroll problems. Carmona would benefit from the switch in leagues and would fit right in as a number 2 or 3 pitcher. Unfortunately, Omar is a moron and it wont happen. By the way, screw Lilly, he won’t help.
lmao, i could’ve pointed many corny ppl in this site, wouldn’t have guess you were one joe d.. lol jk
love that you just showed your true colors bff
fun post though, nice to see especially when everything is so glum and serious lately. LGM!
