Scott Shaw had another deplorable outing today, and he couldn’t avoid the loss, he got torched for 7 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks in 4.1 innings.

The Mets had 10 hits and 2 walks of their own, but were hitless in 8 ABs with RISP, left 8 on base, and struck out 8 times. Nick Evans, Lucas Duda and Mike Nickeas had multi hit games while Zach Lutz took the only 0-fer.

Manuel Alvarez blew his first save today and lost for the first time, but because of his own error, the 2 runs he gave up were unearned, so his ERA stayed at 0. That spoiled a very good outing from Chris Schwinden, who gave up just a run on 5 hits in 6 innings.

The Mets offense had 10 hits and 2 walks, while going 2 for 11 (.182) with RISP, leaving 9 on base and striking out 7 times.
