The Mets took a 10-4 lead to the 8th inning, but the combintion of Edgar Ramirez, Manuel Alvarez and Emary Frederick gave up 7 runs in the final 2 innings, leading to a stunning defeat. Alvarez’ 3 runs in 0.1 innings were the first earned runs he’s given up all season. Michael Antonini had a subpar outing, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits in 5.1 innings, but he was in line for the win before the bullpen meltdown. Eddie Kunz made a relief outing today, going 1.2 innings on 3 days rest.

The Mets offense crushed Akron pitching today, hammering out 17 hits and drawing 6 walks, while striking out just 5 times, and going a blistering 7 for 20 (.350) with RISP, though they did leave a ridiculous 15 on base, including 10 with RISP and 2 outs.
