Pelfrey Continues Dominance In 4-0 Mets Win
In another spectacular outing from Mike Pelfrey, the Mets put up enough offense to beat the Cubs 4-0 for their second straight victory. Game Notes: In a game that was fairly stagnant offensively, Mike Pelfrey managed to hold the Cubs to 6 total baserunners – 3 on hits and 3 on walks in 7 innings. What makes this occurrence even more amazing is the fact Mike Pelfrey pitched an inning in the 2-1 20 inning marathon of [...]

Fernando crushed his first homer of the season. Ruben Tejada chipped in with a pair of doubles for the Bisons, [...]

Edinson Volquez Suspended for PED Use
According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Reds starting pitcher Edinson Volquez has been suspended 50 games for vilating the MLB policy on PED use. It is believed Volquez failed the test during spring training. Major League Baseball confirmed the suspension in a press release and said the suspension will take effect April 21. Volquez was an NL All-Star in 2008, his first year with Cincinnati, and was off to a 4-2 start with a 4.35 ERA [...]

Can Mets Pelfrey Solidify New Status?
After 2 weeks and 12 games the Mets saw everything we saw and have been saying since the spring. The team made alterations to their lineup and ballclub. By calling up Ike Davis, designating Mike Jacobs, and adding youth to the Mets clubhouse, a looser, more cohesive team appears to have immediately been the by product of the move, as evidenced by last night’s victory and post game antics. (How was the shaving cream pie [...]

Three Keys For The Mets Offense To Improve
Although it is early in the season, as Mets fans many of us are already pressing the panic button in regards to the offense. A variety of factors can affect why an offense may be lagging early in the season (Tough schedule, facing tough opponents, weather, location) but those factors weigh on the mindset of the Met pitching staff, which has been phenomenal thus far sans John Maine. A few factors will play into the [...]

Sherman Tanks As Ike Storms The Citi
Let me begin by saying that I count Joel Sherman among my favorite sports journalists, but what was he thinking when he wrote this last night for the Post? IKE DAVIS took batting practice in Buffalo yesterday morning in anticipation of hitting cleanup in a 1 p.m. start against the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate. Fifty minutes before first pitch, however, he was notified of his promotion to The Show. So he flew to New York to [...]

MetsMerized Player Of The Week! (Week 2)
What an interesting week in Mets baseball. Not only did we see a 20 inning marathon game, we saw our closer get the win and a starter get the save. In addition to that, we saw the Mets call up Ike Davis from AAA and demote Mike Jacobs. Some people have been giving up on the Mets already because of their slow start. Give them time, and at least a few more games. Here’s a [...]

The Kids Are Growing Up
Last night Ike Davis made his major league debut, going 2-4 with an RBI. Jonathan Niese pitched a good game and Jenrry Mejia closed the game out for the win. It was a good night for the franchise prospects. I remember not too long ago there were reports that the farm system was dead. Some blamed it on the Johan Santana trade, but go ahead and look at what the prospects we traded away did [...]

Angel Pagan Powers The Mets Over The Cubs 6-1
Ike Davis’ debut was a memorable one as he picked up the first two hits of his career. Angel Pagan’s homer broke the game open and the Mets defeated the Cubs 6-1. Game Notes Jon Niese got into a few jams, but time and time again he got out of trouble with a big strikeout whenever he needed one. He pitched a smart game and I was a little miffed to see him taken out [...]
