In my opinion a realistic expectation for the Mets will be for them to be a good team. They have been a good team for a couple of years now(not in 09 only because of injuries). In my opinion it would be unrealistic to think that they would suddenly turn into a bad team. I expect the Mets to compeat for the Wild card this year and give the Phillies a run fot their money. Unless Beltran and Reyes stay out longer than expected.

Also, just an FYI, Danny is usually getting called out for wearing rose colored glasses and this post is a departure from his usual optimistic posts.

But remember, this site is intended to reflect all Mets opinions and not just a certain side. You’ll find plenty of pessimism here mixed in with just as much optimism. And regardless of what you are it doesn’t mean we all don’t love the team equally and just as passionately.

Remember that Keith Hernandez was heading into the shower when that rally started in game six.

What’s exhausting is having to read the constant Negativity and bashing of one’s OWN team, on a day to day basis.

Granted, the METS are not 100%, nor are they stacked by any means, but to throw in the towel before the first game is even played is lunacy and disgusting. Quite frankly, the lack of faith some Mets fans show is revolting, and infuriating to say the least.

I come to this website to be uplifted and get psyched for the beginning of baseball. Right now every team is in first place, so why do I have to constantly read articles titled “Nightmare”, “Doomsday”, “Problems”. Why aren’t there any articles calming us down, saying not to lose faith, its just a little speed bump, etc., etc.

Quite frankly, the world has enough doom and gloom in it, with the stress of the job, relationship, life in general; it can take a toll on all of us.

But at the end of the day, I can smile because I know that when I get home from the shit-hole of a day I just had; you know what, I get to watch MY METS play, win or lose, I need that, you need that, hell, we all need that.

All this negativety or passive talk just craps all over the one thing most of us cherish and need to get through our days.

I’m not suggesting those out there who have these negative thoughts change how they feel or think; that is your right, but do the right thing and keep the negativity to yourselves.

A great Mets blog should only consist of encouraging and supportive thoughts, not pessimistic and derogatory thoughts.

We want to make people believe that miracles can happen, that a mediocre team can make the playoffs and can win a championship, and if it doesn’t happen this year, then there is always next year.

It starts with those who have a voice, and it is up to the writers to change the tone of the blog. Report the news, but present it from an optimistic side. If the realism suggests that the MEts won’t make the playoffs, than thats fine, but why focus on past moves, focus on what we can do to become better, not what we “should have done”.

Thats my peace, remember at the start of the ’69 season, we were still the worst team in the league and didn’t have a prayer. Obviously, you all know what can happen when a team comes together.

Keep the Faith (Lets Go Mets!!!)

You and the other so called “Die Hard” Met fans who spend more time trashing the team then supporting it, are the reason why playing in NY is so crappy.

You see a few spring training appearance and a little bad news and all of a sudden the 2011 b.s. comes out. Well take your pity party opinions somewhere else.

Clearly you think you have the credentials and baseball knowledge to run this franchise perfectly.

Typical “when the tough gets going, I’ll root for the Yankees” mentality that makes me, and all other truely devoted fans sick. I can’t wait for the Mets to prove all you “so called” Baseball officinado’s wrong by performing well above everyones piss poor expectations. When the Mets do make the Playoffs (AND I SAID “DO” MAKE THE PLAYOFFS) this season, then you’ll be the one looking like ass, when you suddenly hop onboard the Lets Go Mets Bandwagon, and how you always knew they were going to be good.

It’s easy to hop on the negative side and criticize every move and pretend to be a baseball wizard. It take deep devotion to stick by your team and never loose faith, or give up on them; which is exactly what you have done.

So for all the diehards who will never give up, and who are always optimistic,
