Wright has always been a .300 hitter, even with his drop in power and mounting strikeouts. If Bay hit fourth ahead of Wright, fifth in the order might be too low for a .300 hitter (assuming you'd want Wright to hit fifth if Bay hit fourth). With Bay hitting behind Wright, David would have much better protection than he had for most of the 2009 season and might be able to redevelop his power stroke. In the fifth hole, Wright would only have Francoeur (again, this might change if the Mets get a power hitting first baseman). Ultimately, it'll be up to Jerry Manuel to make the decision, but I think it'd be better for the team and the individual players for Wright to hit ahead of Bay.
