Omar is beyond bad. He said today: “We have a plan. I think it’s a good plan. If we get our guys, I think we’ll have a good team.” That is pretty much an admission that we do not have a good team. Apparently the guys he is trying to get are Bay and Molina, both of whom are holding him up for ransom. Aside from the fact that his plan apparently does not address pitching, what is he going to do about paying the ransom? The reality is that his plan is a joke.

You’re counting your chickens before they hatch. Bay will go elsewhere (Angels or Yanks) unless Mets improve the offer. Molina is insisting on a 3 yr contract and should not receive it.

I see he’s really a black hole hitting 3rd. 400 At Bats is too small a sample size to make a judgment on a player.

Are these factual enough for you? I don’t really expect you to reply because you don’t want your opinion to be swayed by facts, but if you do reply, I’m sure it will be some nonsense how David doesn’t hit in big games or isn’t clutch, and then I’ll disprove you again and then, should you answer, you’ll go on about you’ve seen him fail in big spots and stats aren’t everything and blah blah blah blah blah.

Nope, It was all a lie.
They made money off Madoff-$38 million. And according to Forbes the Mets have made over $80 million over the last 3 years. The 2009 Mets drew 3 million fans, producing a reported $115 million-JUST in ticket revenues + TV money…and then they turned around and spend about half of MLB teams on average spent on the draft this year…They chase after backup catchers while the Phills get Haladay, etc…

Can’t see where ownership gives a crap about the product they put on the field.

Just a few thoughts on the above posts. Lots of good points made, but:
1) Yes, Minaya is incompetant in his neglect of the farm system, but he isn’t signing the players we need because HIS BOSSES, THE COUPONS, WON’T LET HIM. They lost their asses to Madoff and lied through their teeth to the fans. They haven’t the money to buy what they need, and have no prospects with which to trade. perhaps he is to blame for the latter, but not the former. He’s signing has-beens and never- weres because that’s all the ownership will LET him sign. Hoping to catch “lightning in a bottle” with a reborn low cost “star” rings of the gambler who, having lost his shirt, starts betting on long shots and “sucker bets” to get back on his feet. Ususally, he just busts faster than before.

2) Third place? Dream on! I honestly don’t see them outplaying the Marlins next year. They are hungry; the Mets are happy to dog it, and collect their paychecks How many times over the last three years have you said to yourself “Geez, these guys sure look like they’re just going through the motions?” This is not a team with heart.

3) The team we have was built to win in 1996. The Molina HR completely destroyed the heart of this team. Hell, they don’t even *look* like a team! When was the last time you saw FIRE in their bellies? Answer: 1996

4) How long do you think it will be before our “good-signs” start amking noise? Do YOU think Santana doesn’t regret taking the money that the Yankees, Red Sox offered him? (Hint: what did those two teams do in the last three years?)

The reason is because David Wright doesn’t have the stones to be the best hitter. When “Big Sloppy” Ortiz went into the tank to begin the season, Bay stepped up and hit WHEN IT WAS NEEDED!

David Wright wilts when he hits in the 3 or 4 hole, when he is asked to carry the load. It’s sad to say, but look at the facts.

Halladay can’t do much better than Lee in the postseason 1.56 ERA. Halladay hasn’t been much better than lee in the past 2 years. Halladay 08 2.79 09 2.78 ERA Lee 08 2.54 09 3.22 ERA Plus Lee is younger. I really don’t get the point of of upgrading a already strong postion with a slightly better player.

I think they have been better off signing Lackey and keeping Lee. Lee,Lackey,Hamles and Happ. I think is better than Halladay,Hamels and Blanton. Signing lackey also wouldn’t cost any prospects.

In the end I think it is a bad trade if they gave up Lee and Happ. I just saw that Happ could be part of the deal

Phils lose: Lee and 1 prospect

Ummmmm couldnt we pull this?? I know Doc gave them a discount but in terms of prospects…We couldnt pull a deal with Mejia or someone else??
