MINAYA MAKE TO MUCH MISTAKE. IN TRADE XAVIER NADY, BANNISTER, Health Bell AND OTHERS. IN THE METS NOT MAKE BIG MISTAKE LIKE HE DO IN THE EXPOS MONTREAL TEAM WHEN TRADE FOR SIZEMORE, CLIFF LEE AND Brandon Phillips TO INDIANS FOR BARTOLO COLON. I HOPE HE DONT TRADE MEJIAS, IKE, FLORES, FAMILIA AND THOLE. IN THE REST OF THE TRADE 50/50. I HOPE HE DONT SPENN MONEY IN OLD PLAYERS LIKE VLAD, DAMON, DYE AND OTHERS, REMEMBER ALOU WHAT HE DO FOR THE TEAM (NOTHING).
I’m surprised “Tartans” who provided the list doesn’t have the Joe Smith to Cleveland aspect of the J.J. Putz trade, although to be fair I don’t understand all the technicalities of a 3-team trade.
What I take from seeing all these trades laid out in black and white is this: the Mets should never abstain from trading any prospect ever because with the exception of Heath Bell, none of these people who were traded away amounted to anything noteworthy. A few of them are useful parts, but none of the players sent away make me cringe with regret.
I absolutely agree with everything you said. I think back to how so many Mets fans freaked out about trading half of those prospects and in the end they all turned out to be nothing and most of them never even stuck as major leaguers. And still Mets fans gloat over the Niese’s and Murphy’s of the world when the track record suggests we should trade them without hesitation.
I got a bad feeling the Mets end up with Matt Holliday, Randy Wolf, Bengie Molina, Carlos Delgado 1 more year, castillo is the 2b and either Dotel or Biemel as the RP we get, if that is the off-season and Roy Halliday is not apart of that mix, then that is not a contender, i don’t care what Omar and Jeff say.
ANTHONY, IN MY OPINION, THE METS ARE BETTER SERVED FOR THE FUTURE WITH LACKEY OVER HALLADAY. HALLIDAY NOT ONLY CAUSEES THEM TO GUT THEIR ALREADY ANEMIC FARM SYSTEM; BUT WORSE THAN THAT FREEZE THEIR FINANCES FOR THE FUTURE AS NO TEAM UBABLE TO OUTSPEND THEIR MISTAKES CAN AFFORD TO LOCK THEMSELVES UP WITH 3 LARGE UNTRADEABLE CONTRACTS AMOUNTING TO AT LEAST ONE THIRD OF THEIR ENTIRE PAYROLL (BELTRAN,SANTANA,HALLADAY).
CETAINLY A 1-2 PUNCH OF SANTANA,HALLADAY IS MORE LETHAL THAN A SANTANA,LACKEY; BUT BY HOW MANY GAMES? ADDING HALLADAY OVER LACKEY CERTAINLY CURTAILS THE FLEXIBILITY ON WHO ELSE IS ADDED. LF, 1B,#1C?
HERETICALLY SPEAKING, LET THE NYY ADD ‘DOC’ HE’S PERFECT FOR THEM, NOT US. REMEMBER THE METS HAVE NEVER & WILL NEVER PAY LUXURY TAXES WHICH LIMITS THIS YEARS PAYROLL AT >$178M. CERTAINLY THAT LINE INCREASES YEASR2YEAR; BUT NOT AS QUICKLY AS WE’D NEED IT TO. MOST TEAMS THAT USED TO INCUR THE LUXURY TAX PENALTY, HAVE RECENTLY WITHDRAWN FROM THE PRACTICE(BOSTON, MOST NOTABLE) LEAVING THE NYY AS THE SOLE VIOLATORS PAYING PAID PENALTY FOR THE PAST FEW YRS. THEIR ’09 PENALTY EXCEEDS THE ENTIRE ’09 PAYROLLS OF A COUPLE OF TEAMS. THERE IS CERTAINLY A RATIONAL REASON FOR NYY TO SPEND AS THEY DO SINCE, IN GENERAL, MOSTLY CAUSED BY THEM & DH, THE PAYROLLS IN THE AL ARE LARGER THAN NL. IN ’09, OF THE TOP MLB PAYROLLS 4 OF THE TOP 7 WERE AL(NYY,DET,BOSTON,LAA) AND 4 OF THE BOTTOM 7 WERE NL(FL,SD,PITT,DC)DIVISIONALLY THE BREAKOUT IS INTERESTING WITH THE ALE CONSISTING (PAYROLL POSITION IN PARENTHESIES)NYY(1),BOS(6),TOR(16),BALT(18),TB(25) Vs. NLE OF NYM(2),PHL(5),ATL(12),DC(27),FL(30) BOTH PHL & ATL HAVE PUBLICLY POSITIONED THEMSELVES INTO MAINTAING ’09 PAYROLL LEVELS IN ’10.
I was talking about Holliday the OF by the way and there talking trades and saying they only have 25 mil to spend.
Best trades are the ones u don’t make
Dumbest comment ever!!!
Where would the Mets be if they didnt make the Keith Hernandez and Gary Carter trades? No 1986 World Series!
Or the Tommy Agee and Al Weis trade? No 1969 World Series!!!
Only a terrible GM would deprive himself of a critical element of building a team.
Another site took your blog post reformatted it and got mentioned on Metsblog. I saw Ceronne mention Omar’s trade history and thought it ws this post which I read last night, and it took me to another website instead of this one. Just thought you should know.
Thanks for telling me.
I can’t tell for sure if he used mine and reformatted. His posted at 4:53PM but that might be pacific time. Mine posted at 6:00PM eastern time.
Oh well. I know Mets Blog mentions stuff from MMO, but it has never mentioned any of my posts.
According to Sportspyder, yours posted on their aggregator at 6:46 and his posted at 8:01. So regardless of time zones, his definitely was posted at least 1 hour and 15 minutes after yours. That site never posts original articles though, always copies stuff from other sites mostly and credits them. But he didn’t credit you for the idea.
