i agree Mask, we just need a catcher for 1 yr. One of the two Pirate lefties, Duke or Maholm, would seem gettable, in exchange for some relief pitching to the Pirates.

The Mets need to stay away from any multi-year deal for a catcher. I’m OK with Barajas or Kendall, unfortunately Zaun has been taken. Doumit would be great if we could get him for a reasonable price. He would even qualify as a trading chip after Thole comes up.

The Pirates are targeting relief pitching and would trade Doumit. They also are ripe to listen to offers that include prospects. They have 2 lefties in their rotation Duke (27 in April) and Maholm (28 in June), both interesting, and one of which they’d trade.
Stokes, Feliciano, Stoner for Duke or Maholm might work.

And what are you going to give up to get Doumit?

Doumit is a valuable commodity as a switch hitter who can hit. The Pirates aren’t going to give him away.

I would prefer Doumit catcher from Pittsburg. Not a bad hitter. Last season he was hurt but before that i like his game.

I’d prefer Barajas and cost savings for 1 year to Molina for 2 years.

Did Johan like throwing to Mike Redmond? I’d prefer him for one year/$1M to both of them.
