Does Molina Really Think He Can Get 3 Years?
Bengie Molina is still a free agent. Why? Because according to many reports, Molina is waiting for a three year contract offer.
Molina is going to be 36 in July, and has only one interested suitor, the Mets. The Giants have said they are not interested in bringing Molina back, the Nationals have signed Ivan Rodriguez, and the Royals signed Jason Kendall.
The Mets are said to have offered Molina a one year deal with a very obtainable vesting option. Meanwhile, the Mets also have interest in free agent catcher Rod Barajas. Molina has to realize he is not in a good negotiating position at all.
On the other hand, Molina has watched Ivan Rodriguez and Jason Kendall, two older veteran catchers, sign two year deals. So he may be justified in asking for a multi year contract. Hopefully the Mets are not desperate enough to give it to him.
In the case that Molina continues his ridiculous contract demands, the Mets can look to free agent catcher Rod Barajas. Barajas, 34, would most likely only require a one year commitment.
Molina batted .265 with 20 home runs and 80 RBIs in 2009
While, Barajas batted bated .226 with 19 home runs and 71 RBIs.

I think the Mets are crazy for continuing to wait Molina out instead of telling him to get lost and making an offer to Barajas who in my opinion is a better catcher all around. Molina is a creep who is trying to use the Mets desperation to do something and parlay it into a 3 year deal.
I agree and if they cancel the Molina offer, perhaps Bay will see the light and agree to his offer.
molina tried his three years ago and they told him to take a walk. His tryng this again is just plain stubbornness. Omar giving in to him would be just plain stupidity. I don’t care if other teams make foolish mistakes. we are not required to repeat them. I say aloha to Bengie.. It is no great loss.
I wonder if seattle would give him 2 yrs, they need a C
Is funny how he doesn’t accept our offer of 2 years wit an option for a third, but if we withdraw the offer watch him accept a 1 year deal somewhere else.. But the thing is that this front office have given in to players demand b4 (perez, castillo) and now players r using the same strategy against us.. Ugh..
The Mets need to take a stand and just say no. We can be bad with him or without him, better off without him.
