Your remarks are unnecessary and irrelevant regarding Delgado’s ‘skin color’. i doubt the great majority of us would care if Delgado ‘changed’ his ‘skin color’ every other day, so long as he stayed healthy and productive!
The fan base seems divided over his age and his injuries and nothing else.

Wow…A lot of you guys on this board are clueless. Delgado’s range is his only issue at 1B. Delgado was a catcher in the minors and in Puerto Rico, first and foremost. Probably before most of you were out of grade school. Delgado’s hands saved Wright about 75 errors over his big league career. Delgado’s arm is accurate, you never saw Delgado drop pop ups and he plays defense WAY better than people give him credit for. The Mets NEED Delgado’s power hitting lefty bat in the order. Now that Bay is signed, it’s time for the Mets to monitor Delgado’s return to the field in Puerto Rico and find a way to bring him back if he is healthy. Murphy is a nice player, but he isn’t Carlos Delgado and never will be. He might be the right skin tone for some of you, but unfortunately, baseball is about baseball skills and Murphy doesn’t have Delgado’s ability.

When ignorant fans thought they could somehow do better by forcing an Ownership change in an atmosphere where your competition gets to appriove your candidates as replacements.

Gee what a suprise, he’s not ready yet. Enough with Delgado. This team does not need to be wasting time (and money) on a 39 year old 1st baseman coming off hip surgery. This team has MUCH BIGGER problems to fix than 1st base. No leftfielder. A starting rotation of Santana (who hopefully has recovered from his surgery)and who else, Kelvim Escobar??? A logjam of old 2nd or 3rd string catchers. Fix all of that first, then tinker with 1st base if you want to. Man this is shaping up to be a long season.

For lack of a better word: AMEN. All of this politically Correct nonsense has run it’s course. If mere words offend people so easily then thats a good GD shame. Now to the purpose of this post: Delgado is not close to what he once was and it’s time to move on. It’s time for Omar to unwrap a healthy set of christmas-balls and put some hope under the tree allready.

He can’t hit those numbers as a pinch hitter so if he’s playing in the National League it has to be factored in and if he’s playing next to Castillo with his lack of range that has to be factored in also.
