That's a pretty lame list. Maybe the best strategy is to totally ignore the Boras clients and concentrate on FA's that can actually be signed to reasonable contracts. That means forget about Holliday. Is he actually worth the effort to confront Boras? I say no; use your energy profitably. The rest of the list is essentially forgettable.

Sorry I am just a little confused. Are you saying that I shouldn't assume that the Reds would want more then Castillo in return?

MYKEY, et al, I REALIZE MANY OF MY POSTINGS ARE ARUMENTATIVE & AT TIMES CONTROVERSIAL; BUT HEAR ME ON THIS: EXCLUDING '88 & '89 I HAVEN'T RESIDED IN THE NY METRO AREA SINCE '83. I'VE LIVED/WORKED IN CHERRY HILL NJ(PHL SUBURB), DOVER, DE, COLUMBUS, GA(90M SW OF ATL), SANTA MONICA, CA(LA SUBURB) AS WELL AS NOW IN MATTHEWS, NC AND CAN TRULY STATE AS FACT NEW YORK IS A UNIQUE FAN EXPERIENCE REGARDLESS OF SPORT, THAT ASSUMES CONTENDER STATUS IS OBJECTIVE #1. OUTSIDE OF NY A SEMBLENCE OF COMPETITIVNESS IS THE MEASURE! NON-NY BASEBALL FRONTOFFICES ARE FIRST & FOREMOST PRIORITIZING COMPETITIVNESS WITHIN THEIR DIV WHILE MAINTAINING PROFITABILITY. THEIR ROLE MODELS ARE STL, OAK, MINN NOT NYY,NYM OR BOS.
IN NY WE TEND TO FOCUS ON WHAT OUR PLAYERS FAIL TO DO RATHER THAN WHAT THEY DO WELL. I CHALLENGE EACH & EVERYONE OF YOU TO LOG ONTO MLB.COM TO LISTEN TO VISITOR BROADCASTS(MY HOME IN MATTHEWS IS CONSIDERED PART OF "HOME TURF" BY NATIONALS,REDS & BRAVES MEANING I MUST TUNE INTO THOSE TEAMS' BROADCASTS ON MY SAT FEED. WHILE NYers EXCL NYY FANS DISDAIN "HOMER" ANNOUNING, IT IS CERTAINLY SICKENINGLY VIABLE ELSEWHERE; BUT EVEN THEN U GET A MORE OBJECTIVE EVALUATION OF YOUR OWN PLAYERS THRPOUGH OPPONENTS' EYES. FOR INSTANCE, OLIVER PEREZ IS CONSIDERED A PITCHER BRAVES WOULD RATHER NOT FACE ESP THE JONES' DUO OF ANDRUW & CHIPPER WHEN BOTH WERE THERE & NY IS DISLIKENED FOR IT'S REDICULIOUS SPENDING & OVERLY NEGATIVE PRESS COVERAGE. ROB DIBBLE(sic DRIVEL) FOR GNATS HATES THE PLACEMENT OF VISITOR PEN IN CITI. BY & LARGE THERE ARE OFTEN HIGHER REGARDS OF OUR PLAYERS BY OPPONENTS THAN WE'RE LED TO BELIEVE, A TEAM LIKE MILWALKEE WHO PREFERS TO PAY IT'S WINNINGEST SP 6M/YR KNOWS THEY CAN ILL AFFORD UPPER ECHELON PERFORMERS INCREASING, IN THEIR ESTIMATION, THE LIKES OF OUR MID-ROTATION PITCHERS.
EXAMPLE: I WAS LIVING IN LA VICINITY WHEN DODGERS DEALT PIAZZA TO LITTLE FERVOR OUTSIDE OF BLAMING MIKE FOR SELFISHLY PUTTING THE TEAM IN THAT POSITION BECAUSE OF GREED. LA, FOR ALL IT BIG CITY CLAIMS IS TRULY STILL THE LARGEST COLLEGE TOWN ON THE PLANET. PREFERRING USC FOOTBALL & UCLA HOOPS AS THEIR MAIN SPORTS FOCUS. NO WONDER NFL IS IN NO PARTICULAR HURRY TO RETURN! NY IS A UNIQUE CREATURE IN THE PRO-SPORTS RANKS. TO JUDGE A NON-EEASTCOAST CORRIDOR TEAM BY NY BASEBALL VALUES IS A MISTAKE! ANT PLAYER ON MOST TEAMS IS AVAILABLE FOR THE RIGHT PKG OF UNDERAPPRECIATED NY PERFORMERS. ONE EXCEPTION: PHAT ALBERT AS STL IS A UNIQUE NON-NY BASEBALL ENTITY AS WELL.

Andy, I apologize for my comments about the Reds not trading Phillips. I just read that they are in fact looking to trade him. With that said, maybe the Mets should go after him, although, the Reds want to get rid of money, so trading Castillo to them would not help the Reds much, unless we included some money.

Trade for Phillips? Are you kidding me? First off, the Reds would be absolutely crazy to let him go. Secondly, if they were that crazy, it would take a package deal that would be WAY TOO much for the Mets to handle, unless it included Wright.

Ankiel is hot and cold and a horrible fielder. Wright's home run numbers are down, every other number is up (something NO one wants to realize). This year was unreal with people out and maybe Wright had no protection either (another thing no one wants to realize, its easier to kill him)

In other words, I'm not sold on Ankiel
