There are 2 catchers better for the Mets than those mentioned in these posts: Zaun and Kendall. Either of those with Santos will fill the catching need and be affordable, leaving plenty of buying power in place to fill the power and pitching needs.

THAT STILL SHOULDN’T PREVENT A MOLINA ACQUISITION IF, U BELIEVE BOTH SANTOS & THOLE WITH LESS THAN 162 MLB GAMES CAUGHT BETWEEN THEM, NEED MORE SEASONING. THEY COULD POSSIBLY INK MOLINA AS #1 KEEP SNYDER AS #2 TEMPORARILY TO TRY DEALING HIM AS A MIDSEASON INJURY REPLACENMENT(HIGHEST VALUE) SOMEWHERE IN ORDER TO RECALL SANTOS FOR #2. SNYDER WOULD ALSO BE AN EXCELLENT INJURY REPLACEMENT SHOULD MOLINA’S AGE CATCHUP.

Brian Schneider’s contract is up at the end of the season and I can’t see them bringing him back on the decline of his career.

no way to Snyder. and as much as i would love to have Haren or Reynolds, or both, they won’t be traded.

I think that offer would get you a dialtone from AZ. Thats a good offer for Haren, but not nearly enough for both.

Good hitter usually have an OBP over .300, Molina does not. He hits some HR’s, but he really doesn’t do anything else well. His arm isn’t what it used to be, he might be the slowest player in the majors, and he’s not as good a defender as he was 5 years ago. Add to that the fact that he’ll likely be the most expesnsive FA catcher this offseason, and you have a guy we really should stay away from.

Gee whiz,you really think they could get Reynolds and Haren? FMart,Davis and Pelfrey-would that be enough? I hate to give up Davis though,maybe Murphy instead?

If Reynolds can play first i’d take a shot at him. Haren would be a huge addition too. Molina is my first choice for a FA catcher.

no mark reynolds he strikes out way too much id take haren as a good #2-#3 starter and snyder id take a shot on hes young a good defensive catcher and doesnt cost that much.id take the shot

Bengie Molina is the clear best choice. He’s a good hitter and a good defensive C. Giving him 2 years, saving whatever chips we have for other needs and buying time for Thole is the right path.

honestly, only go after him if you can get dan haren or mark reynolds. it doesnt seem worth it to me. grab benji molina or rod barajas instead. just remember, this team was not good at all last season and bringin in a guy like monlina, who has had success could bring you the free agent pitcher you need. John lackey would fit into this pool because they won a championship together. Molina is definitely my favorite because he does well with young pitchers and he is definitely and upgrade over schneider offensively.
