Baseball analyst Steve Phillips has been fired by ESPN days after the former Mets general manager admitted to having an affair with a production assistant. Phillips’ admitted to his relationship with 22-year-old Brooke Hundley which led to his wife filing for divorce.
This wasn’t the first time as most of you already know. In 1998, Phillips admitted having sex with a Mets employee, who sued for sexual harassment.
ESPN released a short statement.
“Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN,” network spokesman Josh Krulewitz said in a statement. “His ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged, and it became evident it was time to part ways.”
Hopefully this puts an end to seeing Phillips in any other significant role in baseball or the media. He has shamed thousands in his career by abusing his position to seduce younger subordinates, even at the risk of jeopardizing his own children.
According to a police report filed in Connecticut, the production assistant began calling Phillips’ wife, Marni, after he broke off the affair and sent her a letter graphically describing their relationship. She also contacted Phillips’ 16-year-old son through his Facebook account, according to the police report.

DAMNNNNNN wow….I liked him as an Baseball analyst though. That really REALLY sucks for him….Lost the “Money” + his “Honey” but I do kinda find this funny. He got the Double Whammy. Hopefully he can move in with his “former” production assistant!

Just finished blogging about the same thing on my site. Steve Phillips is no Leon Phelps (the Ladies’ Man). Maybe this is the break he needed. I think Keith Hernandez’s contract for Just For Men is about to run out. They could use a new spokesman.

Very sad story. I had hoped that Steve learned his lesson after his first debacle with the Mets in 1998. Its not everyday that someone gets a second chance that invovles sharing the booth with Joe Morgan and Jon Miller.
I suppose its easy to say nasty things about him at this time, but before anyone criticizes him, perhaps one should consider his or her own shortcomings. I feel bad for all parties concerned.
Im sure he’ll land on his feet. He still has the ‘skill sets’.
He stunk all around. Glad he’s gone and we won’t have to see him again.

Man Steve Phillips has some bad taste in women. Anyone see a pic of that chick? She’s FUGLY! That was messed up how that girl notified his kid on what was going on after Steve didn’t want no part of her anymore. Phillips needs to quit screwing around with these young chicks before he ends up like McNair. As far as seeing the last of Steve Phillips on TV, somehow I doubt it. I have a bad feeling he’ll end up on MLB Network in a few months.

I never liked Steve phillips, I always thought that he based his moves as the Mets GM, on what was written in the New York daily tabloids. Fat Mike Franseca berated you into getting Mike Piazza….after you said there is no need for him. Phillips basically ran the Mets like it was a rotissarie baseball team.
And while he was on that ESPN he killed the Mets at every opportunity.

You are nothing but an arrogant predator. You were a fraud as a GM and it’s unfortunate and a gentleman and a knowledgeable baseball man like Bobby Valentine had his Mets tenure while you were the GM of the New york Mets.
