  I don’t know what the big deal is about this guy. He’s been repeating AAA for like 3 years. Why would they give up anything of real value for a couple of months of Billy Wagner? Carter will just replace Wily Mo Pena at Buffalo and that’s about it. The other guy isn’t even worth discussing.

  Instead of our draft picks we would have gotten at the end of the post season we get Chris Carter and some other guy, great job Omar, just great, at least 3 more years of Omar and idiot moves.

    yes because this guy is decent and a bit better than a replacement-level player. far better than francoeur.

      Excuse me, but he’s never played in the Majors, so WTF are you talking about???!!!

      Incidentally, we were told in the art. above that he consistently hits well above .300 at AAA-level, but that this year he hit .294 @ Pawtucket. Maybe I am just having a hard time w/ plain English, but that strikes me as a bona fide contradictory statement.

      I dunno, is it just me, or does this 26-yr. old not have a lot of superstar upside?

        THIS DEAL WAS MORE ABOUT NOT PAYING 3M+ TO A PLAYER WITHOUT A POSITION ON A TEAM WITHOUT ASPIRATIONS OR POSSIBILITIES. WHY KEEP WAGNER? IS THE QUESTION. COULD THEY HAVE GOTTEN MORE? CERTAINLY; BUT AT WHAT COST? EATING A CHUNK OF SALARY? EVEN WITH A TON OF CONDIMENTS THAT’S PRETTY UNPALATABLE THIS PAST SEASON. BOTH THESE GUYS SEEM MORE SUSPECT THAN PROSPECT. LOST DRAFT PICKS? PIG IN THE POKE IF U CAN SIGN THEM FOR SLOT MONEY.

        am i expected to argue with you when you cant get the simplest facts right? he has played in the majors, in 2008 and in 2009. please y to do a tiny amount of research.

        you may not be aware of this. but minor league stats can be used to project major league stats. and carter is without question, undeniably, a far better player than francouer.

        look, if you refuse to accept the reality of frenchy’s career stats, that is your problem i guess. carter is clearly, unquestionably, a better player. this is not really something you can dispute.

        this is not to say that carter is an all-star. but he is better than replacement level, and frenchy is worse. the team wins more games if carter plays over frenchy.

        keep in mind i am making these points assuming that you have at least a child’s understanding of how baseball works, how runs are scored, and how outs affect an offense.
