In fact I think being a fan is all about the love. My love for Mets is a peaceful non hating one being a New Yorker and related to NY Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers fans back in the day. However, being a Met Fan here in Philly Land ( i currently reside in Old City in KillaDelphia) I can never forgive natives here for the classless and merciless harassment I have received for simply liking my team. As a Mets fan I remember that we were founded and immediately terrible. In 1962 the Mets had the worst season in the MLB. Yet, people were still fans. Gil's Mets made being at the park fun. Some who are old enough to remember remain fans. I will never be a Yankee fan. That is my blood will never run will pin stripes and blue. I don't get choked up over going to the Bronx. I bleed Orange and Blue. I get chills when I see the Worlds Fair grounds and I have people in Queens. Yet as much as the ever so arrogant Yankee fans can be, I will never root for a team whose fans think that baseball is bloodsport. Where anyone not born in the town is an 'outsider.' Where the legacy for baseball is racism and some argue the source of 'the worst treatment of Jackie Robinson in the MLB."Dick Allen, the Phillies, and Racism" by William C. Sure, after they won and the bandwagon began to roll away is when the re-birth of hatred occured, but that was a team that if you're being honest, there was no reason to "hate."
