After the mets can omar, he will spend the rest of his life buying lottery tickets. jack egbert is another of omar's baseball lottery ticket. how about searching for talent and actually evaluating a player, omar? it is called hard work.

Yes. Unbelievably true. Its not exactly like they are picking up Jorge Cantu's or the jon lesters that other teams release. Broadway and Misch are both garbage and fringe relievers good for an appearance here and there...

Thanks for giving us a little history on this guy. I wonder what changed when he went to AAA? Sometimes it's there when coaches begin to tinker with one's delivery. It could be that what this kid needed most was a change of scenery. It looks like he was predominantly a starter and then they started using him in relief at AAA. Maybe we'll get lucky and catch some lightning in a bottle.

"Over the past year we have seen them add names such as Pat Misch and Lance Broadway to help bring some youth to their beleaguered farm system.
Today the Mets continued this trend by picking up pitcher Jack Egbert off of waivers from the Chicago White Sox."

I guess that's one way to look at it. Another way is to say the Mets continue to stockpile has-been or never-were mid-20s prospects cast away by other teams. This is what I've come to expect from a Minaya-led organization that just doesn't know how to accumulate talent.
