Don't worry, my foam finger is down. I didn't write a favorable review of Wright after tonight's baserunning blunder. It'll be in the recap of tonight's game when I publish it shortly.

And how come no coach has ever been able to teach him to move in instead of back on ground balls? I'm not talking about squibblers, I'm talking about hard hit balls.

Don't be so sure David Wright will be around for all those records we're assuming he'll reach. Before everybody reaches for those familiar David Wright Pom-Poms (c-BrooklynsOwn) I don't want to hate David Wright and I want him to be here and succeed as much as anyone else but the REALITY aside from his numbers is he is continuing to come up small in the biggest of big spots, and it's alarming.

Tonight's game vs. Marlins is an example. The Marlins shoveled the last batch of dirt and danced on our graves the last 2 seasons, David Wright was a big part of both collapses, and he came up small again today with 4 Ks. He is also not hustling out groundballs a LOT more then he ever did...and don't give me that 'it's a long season crap'. Mike Piazza was a catcher and NEVER short-changed us on hustle. David Wright can't put on Robin Ventura's shoes as far as clutch in BIG SPOTS is concerned. And I'm not talking about game-winning hits in July, I'm talking bout when money and grit are on the line. Tonight's game was that.

David is a good player, very durable and has put up some good numbers as a Met but I'm sick and tired of everyone making him out to be the golden boy. He's no golden boy...yet. I would like him back and I'm sure he will be back but his lack of big hits in BIG SPOTS after 6 years is scary. His defensive skills have slipped this year and his LACK OF HUSTLE is Sheffieldesque and he gets a pass. Would I listen to offers for him? Yes. Would I shop him around? NO

We need grit, not glitter.
