Should The Mets Sign Joel Piñeiro As A Free Agent?
I’ll make this short and (hopefully) sweet, so please don’t shoot the blogger. As you may already know, I am an optimist. However, as much as I’d like to see the Mets have a miraculous finish to the 2009 season, every time they lose to second division teams like Arizona, the chances of them playing baseball deep into October at Citi Field seem to be as remote as Mo Vaughn being spotted eating a salad. [...]

Mets Comeback Falls Short; Lose 6-5 To D’backs
The Mets came close to pulling a rabbit out of their hat tonight after falling behind 6-0 to the Diamondbacks after two innings. They came up a run short, but came so close to tying and winning the game if not for another baserunning blunder by Angel Pagan. Nelson Figueroa was called up to make the start after compiling a string of solid starts for Buffalo. I was one of those who was hoping to see [...]

Has Omar Waved The White Flag?
With the Mets making absolutely no moves at the trade deadline, it makes me wonder if Omar Minaya has given up on this years team. After winning 6 of 9, most Mets fans are believing, but apparently Minaya is not. Minaya has also not pushed very hard to get Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, Maine, and Putz back into the lineup. He is letting them take their time. If Minaya thinks that the season is over then [...]

MetsMerized Player Of The Month For July!
Here we are in August, with a sub-par July behind us. You could say the Mets finished on a high note, but then you’d be partially lying. The Mets took a series win against the Rockies and some momentum into their series with the Diamondbacks, and promptly lost the first and third games. However, there were alot of promising bright spots in July, and it also meant one month closer to the return of our [...]

One Nut Job For Another?
You may have heard over the weekend that Wally Backman was fired from his job as manager of the Joliet Jack Hammers of the Northern League. I love Wally, he was a great Met, but I’m not surprised he was let go. What is surprising though, is that some Mets fans are considering and hoping that the Mets hire Backman to replace Tony Bernazard as Vice President in charge of Player Development or Jerry Manuel [...]

Can The Mets Return To Form In August?
Every time an updated injury report is released, August appears to be the month circled for the majority of the disabled players to make their return to the Mets. What will this mean for the players who have been thrust into everyday roles over the past few months? Let’s start analyzing what August has in store for the Mets, beginning with the hitters. The key Mets injuries in 2009 have been the ones to Carlos [...]

D-Backs Rain On Mets Parade 5-2
The beards must grow on! After the players vowed not to shave until the Mets reached the .500 mark, the team continued their inconsistent play since their five-game winning streak ended on Thursday, as they were defeated by the Diamondbacks by the final score of 5-2. The loss dropped the Mets 7½ games behind the Wild Card-leading Giants and Rockies and kept them 9½ games behind the division-leading Phillies. Mike Pelfrey became the second consecutive [...]

Pedro Feliciano Has Gone From Specialist To Special
Here’s a quick question for you to consider. Who is the longest tenured Mets player currently on the 25-man roster who has not played in the majors for any other franchise during his time with the team? Although you might think the answer is Jose Reyes, he’s only been with the team since June 2003. The last person you would think of is Pedro Feliciano, but he is the correct answer. Why would anyone think [...]
