Everybody Relax, Mets Won’t Get Much For Billy Wagner
I’m hearing a lot of talk on sports radio today about Billy Wagner who had another perfect appearance in rehab and is set to be activated this Sunday. Most of the enthusiasm is centered around the chance that the Mets might be able to move him before the August 31st waiver deal deadline. I have no doubt that the Mets will try and get something in return for Wags, but some of the names I’m [...]

Mets Will Look Different On Friday
Howie Rose broke the news during today’s Met-Diamondbacks game that come this Friday the Mets will have a new look. For this weekend’s series against the San Francisco Giants the Mets will be wearing throwback uniforms. According to Rose, these uniforms will resemble uniforms worn in the late 1800′s early 1900′s. They will be cream colored, featuring the letter “N” on one breast, and the the letter “Y” on the other, there will be no [...]

Mets To Make Citi More Metsmerized!
It figures that the Mets would suddenly pick a random weekend in August to suddenly decide that they want to make Citi Field more Mets-centric or as we like to say, MetsMerized! With the team continuing to struggle and attendance sagging, the Mets are slashing ticket prices and giving Mets fans a new reason to come to the park. According to several sources, we will finally be able to see more tributes to Mets players [...]

Ruben Amaro Jr. is the Anti-Omar
Did any of you see the cover story of the USA Today sports page yesterday? If you didn’t, here is a link, but let me warn you—it’s going to make you both angry and jealous. It’s about Phillies’ rookie GM Ruben Amaro, Jr., and how the guy has earned the respect of his players by not only going out and grabbing what turned out to be a tremendous free agent in Raul Ibanez over the [...]

Reason To Watch
As I’ve been watching our beloved Mets this season, going through cases of Pepto-Bismol and Alka-Seltzer, I’ve still kept an interest in seeing the team win, no matter how many games out of first we’ve been. Recently, it’s gotten much tougher to get genuinely excited over wins, though having them spaced so far apart does help increase the excitement when we get one. But, for the first time in a few years, I have a [...]

Oh My Gado, Another Setback
Adam Rubin of the Daily News is reporting that Carlos Delgado suffered a strained right oblique muscle while rehabbing from hip surgery in Port St. Lucie, assistant GM John Ricco said. Delgado was examined in New York by doctor Struan Coleman on Wednesday. Ricco indicated that the strain was not believed to be overly severe. “The thought is possibly in a couple of weeks he could be back swinging,” Ricco said. Of course, that means Delgado [...]

Mets Win 6-4; Salvage Series
The Mets (53-61) beat the D-Backs (52-63) by a score of 6-4 to avoid being swept. The Mets were 2-7 on this recent west coast trip. Oliver Perez was his usual self. 5.1 IP, 1 ER 7 SO. Which is OK, especially the 7 SO. But what kicked him out of the game was the walks. Ollie had 6 walks yet again. That’s the reason he couldn’t finish the 6th inning. How can he walk [...]

Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Back
Welcome back, Where your dreams were your ticket out. Welcome back, To that same old place that you laughed about. I Urge The Wilpons To Spare Us Anymore Frustration
According to Matt Cerrone and Adam Rubin, Omar Minaya could be getting phased out in favor of John Ricco who is currently the Assistant GM of the Mets. They also speculate that there could be a swap of roles where Omar slips into a player development role, while Ricco becomes the front man. I’m no longer a big fan of Omar, as readers of this site fully know, but if we are going to replace [...]
