Plenty of choices for GOAT of the game: KRod, Feliciano, or Green. I wgo with KRod for GOAT. Without the blown save, the others would have had a chance to screw up. GOATS for thr 2nd half: Parnell, Pelfrey, Cora, Perez, Pelfrey, Santana, Niese, Green, Pelfrey, Pagan, KRod.

That was the kind of loss that made me want to cry. Just when the Mets appeared to be beating the odds and Cards do it again. Or rather our reliever falls apart and our replacement (for a replacement) SS makes an error and then Pujols does his thing. I have no idea what **** is wrong with K-Rod lately, but since the all star break he has not deserved that nickname.

Agree with most of you but I still have some concerns when it comes to Johan. I know that when he doesn't have his best stuff then he is the kind of pitcher that can win like that but how many times are we going to hear that? He gave up 5 runs! I know that krod blew the game and Pagan is showing that he lacks base running instincts and Green is the ghost of Heilmand but come on. Johan could of made this game easier on himself and team, what an ace does, and shut down Cards. For goodness sake Pujols was sucking wind recently and we needed a shutdown performance from him not a good game. He is supposed to set the table for other young starters. If anyone else would of had a start like last nite with same results then you would hear how bad they are. Same applies to Johan. He needed to shut down Cards, especially when team give him 5 runs and not start making statements that he is used to this happening to him. Sheesh do your job Johan.

Nice going Green. You hit the first batter you faced to give up a run. You might as well have hit Pujols and Holliday too.

I was at the game, it was bizarre to say the least. There were some pull you last hair out moments, and there were actually some really good moments. Obviously the bad outweighed the good. Castillo made a great play, Wright made a few great saves off of Santana etc...they were unable to hit Pinero and did a great job of it last night.

KROD - sharp as jello - but seriously with the erratic amount of work? No excuses but perhaps a reason.

Green - has been a HUGE improvement since the start of the season, but last night, not so much alot.

Castillo getting hurt - are you friggen serious. I had no idea he got hurt, but when I saw he was out of the game and that that that that Berro dude in I cursed like a sailor.

Ahhhhhhhh

I will NEVER EVER give up on this team, but..........maybe the rest of this year should be used to try out young talent, move some guys up an down from the minors etc...... I would sit DW a bit too, why risk ANOTHER injury for nothing.

Ok I had to DVR this game and I am so glad because of the schedule it stopped after the Cards tied the game in the 9th.

Now the blame can be passed around from Pagan for not scoring in the first inning when he should've from 3rd, to Johan for not giving us a good game, to K-rod for not sealing the deal, to Sheffield for being the new double play King, to even Manuel for bringing in a closer who has not pitched frequently enough to keep his mechanics fresh. However, when it is all said and done they should've won this game and someone really needs to give Pagan an ear full this is the 3rd straight game where his baserunning errors make a difference.

Sheffield needs to be moved out of the clean up spot with his big swing. I would much rather have a guy who can just make contact and move a runner or sacrifice a run in. Move him further down the line up to be your "last hope" situations where homeruns are the only thing that can save a game.

dude they are not heartbreaking anymore. They are laughable. I turn the TV on and when I saw on ESPN sean green hittin that guy with the bases loaded, I laughed my ass off.

Sean Green need to be shipped off a rocket. He sure had a string there of good outings, but overall a terrible season by this clown. Worst than Heilman

I know that krod has not pitched in a while but if the Mets had won the previous 4 games and not needed him and he came in and still blow this game then not having pitched is an excuse? No way, he was brought in to prevent what happened at the end of last year plus the games that the BP blew for Santana and here he is 2nd half of season, every game important to get to .500 at least and he can't hold the lead. Wow, this was a gut wrencher for me and I turned it off after 9th and then find out that Heilman, Green, made a comeback. I know he had been pitching well lately but last time a wild pitch and now a hit batter to let in winning run? He is very inconsistent and so is Parnell, who needs to go to AAA, and work on this other pitches and his control, walks first batter he sees almost every time. Come on, just shut down Jose, more bad news today, and not make his injury any worse. If he needs surgery then operate or rest if that is what is needed. Same thing with Beltran cause with Castillo now hurt then Cora has to play more and that means Berroa at SS and that is the end of a competitive team. I love my Mets but this is ridiculous and what the heck happened to Johan? We give him 7 runs and he has a good game and holds them to "5" runs? Before this would have been a terrible outing but this time his team scores for him and he can't get his fastball over 90. Something is wrong with Santana, he is not throwing as hard as he used to. Shut him down too cause you could save those bullets, innings, for next year. While you are at it maybe you can find a starter that can go more than 5 innings. Is this what baseball has come to? So many pitchers are now only throwing 5 innings, Kazmir being in that group, that I wonder if the pitch count needs to be ditched as Nolan Ryan in Texas is doing. Sorry just ranting after a terrible job by Johan, Frankie and Green, err "Heilman".
