Not having Perez in a rotation is better than having him in it. He is another lost game waiting to happen. The Mets should never have signed him last off-season.

As long as Ollie is going under the knife could they implant a brain in this guys head too? I hear Michael Jackson’s brain is selling on EBAY.
Can’t you just see Ollie “moon-walking” off the mound after being taken out in the 2nd inng of a start next year???? NO I know tht’s a horrible thing to say and I am sorry for writing it. COme on though you chuckled at the thought of Ollie doing that goofy backward walking-thing off the mound didn’t you? You can totally see him doing it can’t you!
You know the really sad thing is I would bet anything that Ollie is most likely happy to not be pitching the rest of the year. I am thinking that he sees this as some sort of unexpected “summer vacation” like a kid out of school earlier for the year than expected. Wow Ollie, now you can stay up late playing video games and watching those “USA UP All Night” with the sound turned low so your Mommy sleeping in your house won’t hear it and tell you to go to bed.
Do you think that Ollie has any idea that this surgery means he will have to give up whatever off season plans he may have had becasue he has to rehabilitate his knee full time? Umm, NOOOO!

Losing Perez is no big loss. In fact I hope we never see him as a Met again, just like when Victor Zambrano walked off the mound after a pitch….we never seen him again. Maybe history can repeat itself.

Furthermore, if Dave duncan supposed to be this bigtime pitching zen,or Jennie, wizard, or whatever i would love to see what he would do with Ollie Perez. Personally I think his Duncan’s rep will be ruined.

We are better without him. If the surgery goes bad and he can’t pitch at all, the Mets will have to dump him, big contract or not.

With the season lost, I was actually hoping to see Perez “improve” over the course of what was left. At least he’d be playing and somewhat earning the money. Now he’s injured and faces surgery. With Perez being quite a headcase, we can only hope the surgery actually helps his performance. I’ve been curious to where his velocity went after he came over to the Mets. He threw a little harder before, and I know he took MPH off his breaking pitches on purpose.

Either way, Perez is on the DL and Broadway’s to be in his place, So that’s not too bad, because Lance is better than Misch as a starter.

He may be worse than Perez but he isn’t raking us for $36 million bananas either. I bet if you polled the Mets anonymously, none of them would have anything good to say abour Ollie. Keith Hernandez said back in May that he puts a drag on the team and puts the players to sleep in the field when he’s on the mound. They don’t want to fight for him.

And Lance Broadway is an improvement How??? Have you seen his AAA stats??? A RH Oliver Perez, without the good FB or slider (not that Perez’ FB or slider were very good this year either of course!). The only real difference between the two is LH vs RH and Broadway is cheaper. I guess one way to look at it is that he couldn’t POSSIBLY be any worse than O.P.
