Are these injured players coming back "good as new" or permanently impaired? I am very doubtful regarding the capabilities of Reyes and the value of his future career. Maine appears to be a player of the past with no future. Will Beltran have microfracture surgery? Delgado is goodbye. Ollie's just plain no good whether he's healthy, injured, stupid, or insane. Will Putz ever be any good? No, next year is shot and we're 2 to 3 years away from having a representative team again. No meaningful games over the next 2 years, more likely 3 years because that's how long we've got Omar to wreak more destruction. I wouldn’t be so sure about next year. All though I believe that any time you are under the knife it is major surgery but it could be much worse. But look at it this way ladies and gentlemen; next year should be great. Even if minimal moves are made in the offseason this team should be pretty good next year. And expectations in the general public may be low so they could "sneak up" on some people. I've been away from this team for a week. I haven't heard of their scores or seen their games for an entire week, and I come back to hear Santana is out for the year, the Mets trade Wags, and we lost 3 of 4 to Philly, sitting 16.5 back. It's really done, if it wasn't before all of this. Just like you Jessep, the only reason I'll be sitting on my couch watching SNY is because of Gary Cohen. The only good news I can get out of Santana's injury is that it wasn't more serious, like a Tommy John surgery being needed which would've left him out for most of 2010. I am done with going to another Met game until there is actually a Mets team (not the AAA team) to go see. I have a minor league team right in my town. I can save the train fare and just go see them.
