Ah the 69 Mets, I was 10 yrs. old and I will never forget that team. Seaver, Koosman, Taylor leading the pitching staff. Offense lead by Jones, Agee. And a great cast of supporting players (Grote, Clendenon, Charles, Swoboda, Kranepool, Boswell, etc.). All of them led by #14 Gil Hodges (LET HIM IN THE HALL SNOBS). No superstars at many positions just a bunch of players who for 1 magical season played with heart and guts. NOBODY gave them a chance against the mighty Orioles. The current team could learn alot from this team………

I’ve heard that as well. Silly reason isn’t it, that one person can’t get in because there are other teammates of his already in, even though all have perfectly good credentials. Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, and Roy Campanella. Those 4 greats get Gil locked out?

I’ve asked that a million times, I’m afraid his time as a manager was far two short, tradgically, to be considered, but I think as a player he should be in. I read somewhere once that he’s out because there were “too many” Dodgers from his era in…….

Great Article. My understanding is on August 22 (Saturday game vs Phils) they are going to have a tribute to the ’69 team. I have tickets to that game – should be outstanding pregame tributes.
