Fernando Martinez is not in the lineup today and won’t be for at least the rest of the series against the Phillies due to pain behind his right knee. The Mets are not overly concerned even though F-Mart has had a history of injuries, including a knee injury in the past. There are no plans for F-Mart to see a doctor anytime soon.
What I don’t understand is why the Mets have not sent F-Mart to see a doctor after 9 players this season are currently on the disabled list. The salaries of those 9 players sitting on the DL equals almost 70 million dollars. Did Bernie Madoff take so much money from the Wilpons that they cannot afford to send their players to get MRI’s and see doctors when in pain?

This…this is a joke, right? RIGHT?!?!?
whar do you bet he plays 2-3 games before he goes to the doctor and then he goeson the dl for 4-6 weeks?
For crying out loud! The baseball gods have it in for us!!!
awww…does the knee hurt a wittle bit? Tsk, tsk.
These guys are pussies and I’m getting sick of this. I’ve never seen anything like it in all my life. Never! What little I’ve seen of Fernando Martinez I do not like at all. I would definitely include him in a deal if I had to.
I had more to say but I felt a twinge in my wrist so I’m going to go get an MRI, stay away from the PC for a few days. You never know…it may be Carpal Tunnel syndrome – just in case.
Didn’t Delgado, Reyes, Putz, Beltran, Sheffield, Maine, Church all start out with something like this before the team finally placed them on the DL.
For some reason this team refuses to believe that just wishing injuries will go away won’t happen. Look today at the Yankees and Chien-Ming Wang today. Wang came out of the game with an injury, the Yankees send him to the hospital for an MRI, he was back at the Stadium before the game was over. He will miss they say a month but at least the Yankees know right now instead of having a guy rest for 2 weeks and then putting him on the DL and getting help for the injury
This is ridiculous. So they will play the wait and see game with F-Mart also. Pain behind the knee sounds familiar. They played wait and see with Reyes and when they finally got an MRI they learned he has a tendon tear. How long has he been out? So they will now endanger the career of the top prospect in the organization. Looks like the Mets have actually turned into a Bush League operation.
I agree, they are so bush league it’s embarrassing. I was being sarcastic when I mentioned in the article that perhaps the Wilpons couldn’t afford the treatment but I’m starting to wonder if that could be the truth, they did lose a lot from Madoff.
I have also wondered if it’s the $ and if they can’t even afford to pay for MRI’s for million $ players and top prospects, then it really is sad. Perhaps the best thing that could happen would be if they were to sell the team.
Who cares about F-Mart, if he doesn’t play his trade value won’t drop (is it possible for his trade value to be any lower?). Just another Met “untouchable” prospect who turns out to be worthless. I.E. Ryan Thompson, Alex Escobar, Lastings Milledge, etc. At least they traded that prospect named Kazmir, whatever happened with him???
The Mets are run by incompetents whose specialty is incompentence(or incontinence). They act as if guys saying they hurt are trying to get out of running after practice or something. Delgado? We will let it rest and then play him a while and THEN have surgery. Beltran? A BONE bruise will surely heal wi 3 days rest, even though it takes a week for a skin bruise to go away. Reyes? Just stretch some more and that hammy will loosen up. Maine? Just a bit tight back there, no problem- a little ice and ibuprofen. Church? Concussion? Take a nap and 2 aspirin.
Perez? Well they can have a pass on the diagnosis as Freud an Jung are dead.
