6/11 Minor League Report! TEJADA, FAMILIA!
I apologize for the lateness of this report, we blew a fuse upstairs last night during the Mets game (followed by me blowing a fuse after Takahashi gave it up to Ibanez), and it just got fixed early this morning. So here you go. Also – starting this Sunday (the 14th), I will be taking my annual “Work on the MPH Draft Database” break (bi-annual this year), and David will be posting the nightly report [...]

Required Morning Reading – It’s in Their Heads
Mets fans should read the following article in today’s New York Times. Basically, Gary Matthews Sr. (“Sarge”), now a Phillies broadcaster, says he expects our most recent and disastrous series against the Phils will pretty much be the formula for the rest of the year, even though we now still have more wins than losses against them this season. According to Sarge, Santana and Rodriguez have all the necessary toughness to beat anybody, but if [...]

Phucked Again!
Now, we don’t want to talk about “choking” anymore because that sends some Mets fans into a tizzy concerning overused and tiresome sports metaphors. Besides, who really thinks we choked tonight? We played great baseball, happened to blow another lead. I think, let me see if I have this right, the third straight lead in three games against the Phils. But, oh was there ever some spirited play out there! It’s not as if we [...]

Mets Lose 6-3 To Phils, And Lose The Series
Game Summary Ouch! Another tough loss to the Phillies in extra innings. Mets lost the lead but was able to keep it tied into extra innings. However, the Mets gave up a huge homerun sealing their fate with the loss. Offense failed after the sixth inning, only getting one hit after that inning. Mets lose to the Phils 6-3 in extra innings, and lose the series 1-2. Pitching Tim Redding now has had back-to-back solid starts, hopefully [...]

Subway Shuffle, Fans Scuffle, Chip-Chip Hooray!
Livan Is Movin’ On Up The Mets have juggled their rotation for this weekend’s series against the Yankees so that John Maine can get an extra day of rest. The switch will now have Livan Hernandez start on Friday, and John Maine will pitch on Saturday. Johan Santana will close out the Subway Series on Sunday. Maine is coming off a terrible start where he was lit up for seven runs in four innings against the Washington Nationals. Jerry Manuel [...]

In A Big Game, Only The Strong Survive
How bad did Jerry Manuel want last night’s clash with the Phillies? Bad enough to spend his closer’s remaining bullets, Frankie Rodriquez, in a tie game for two innings, no less. Who says games in June don’t have the intensity of September affairs? Unfortunately, the Mets could not counter the Phighting Phillies number one asset-guile. As per usual, the Mets jumped ahead and could not handle prosperity. Leading 4-1 (should have been 5-1 but a [...]

Round 2, Steven Matz, LHP, Ward Melville High School: He has touched 94 and scouts believe he can get stronger and thus throw faster. His curveball is projected to be above-average due to good spin [...]
