Mets Lose 6-3 To Phils, And Lose The Series
Ouch! Another tough loss to the Phillies in extra innings. Mets lost the lead but was able to keep it tied into extra innings. However, the Mets gave up a huge homerun sealing their fate with the loss. Offense failed after the sixth inning, only getting one hit after that inning. Mets lose to the Phils 6-3 in extra innings, and lose the series 1-2.
Tim Redding now has had back-to-back solid starts, hopefully getting into a nice groove. Redding allowed three runs on 6 hits. He struck out a season high six and walked none. He still has yet to pick up his first win with the Mets. His ERA improves to 6.18 on the season.
The Mets’ valuable lefty reliever Pedro Feliciano pitched the eighth inning and allowed no hits in getting his three outs. Pedro pitched in all three games, and held the Phillies hitless in all of them. Here at MMO we give props to our best southpaw reliever.
Mets’ temporary set-up man Bobby Parnell pitched a score less ninth and part of the tenth inning to keep the Phils to three runs. He was charged with the loss, back-to-back for Parnell. Thankfully Frankie did get a break before the Yankees series.
Ken Takahashi attempted to finish the inning for Parnell, but instead he gave up a three-run homerun to Ibanez to seal the Mets fate with the loss.
The offense was able to tag Moyer for eight hits and three runs to make sure he didn’t get his 251st career win, but it wasn’t enough.
Castillo helped out with some nice hustle, scoring all three of the Mets runs. Also helped by Beltran who got all three RBI’s.
The story of the series for the Mets is David Wright. He went 3-4, and improved his hit streak to 7 games. David Wright went 8-13 in the series with one homerun, one double, one RBI, and three stolen bases.
Happy birthday Jose Reyes! Please return soon.
John Maine was placed on the DL due to a “dead arm.”
Mets are now 3-5 in extra innings on the season.
