Mets Lose Third Straight, Dodgers Win 5-3

Mets played game 2 of a three game series against the red hot LA Dodgers, who are starting to say “Manny who?” The Dodgers took game one of this series in extra innings. The Mets are 9-9 on the road this season, while Dodgers have the best home record in the majors (15-3). Mets send out John Maine who is 3-2 in seven starts with a 4.24 ERA. While Dodgers will have 5-1 record Chad Billingsley, who has a 2.30 ERA. Mets will be without their 2-time All-Star first baseman for awhile as Delgado is scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery Tuesday for a bone spur and a torn labrum in his hip and will need 10 weeks to recover.

“He’s a big part of this ballclub and a big part of this lineup, so we’re going to miss him,” Carlos Beltran said.

On Church’s tough game last night…

“I just feel terrible,” Church said. “I mean, touching the bag is a simple thing to do. But obviously, I didn’t. I think it might have turned the momentum a little bit.”

Pitching

John Maine started this game off with a record of 3-2 and an ERA over 4. He gave up an unearned run in the first inning after Murphy’s error, a walk, and a base hit up the middle.
Maine got out of a tight jam in the third inning with bases loaded, no outs. Got a line-out to third, a strikeout, and a ground out to short. Nice job Maine!
Dodgers score second run in the fourth inning after Maine gave up a single, and an RBI double by Blake. Mets lead 3-2.
After Maine gave up 2 base hits in the sixth inning, Maine gave up a homerun to Blake. Dodgers lead 5-3.

Mets third run came in the third inning, after an error by Furcal, Beltran gets aboard and goes to second. David Wright hits an RBI single.
