Chipper Jones Won’t Be Naming Next Kid Citi
Last night, during a post game interview, Chipper Jones was still fuming over a call at third base that saw Carlos Beltran slide in safely on a steal attempt. Replay video showed that Beltran may have been tagged before touching the base, but that’s baseball.
Chipper had plenty to say as he voiced his frustrations and pinned the loss on third base umpire Greg Gibson.
“I’ve never had a guy slide into my glove and be safe,” Jones said. “That’s the whole game right there. So to say, ‘We’re a little upset’ is an understatement. We played a perfect game tonight, and we got it taken from us.”
“That was top-notch baseball and it was decided by a blown call,” Jones said.
Chipper Jones also hit a shot that would have been a homerun at Shea or just about any other park, but at Citi Field he had to settle for a 410 foot out.
Before the game, Chipper revealed that he had ordered a pair of Shea Stadium seats for $869, but that they were never sent to him and he wanted to know from the Mets where they were.
“Yeah, I wrote the check, but I’m still looking for ‘em. I need to talk to somebody.”
According to Adam Rubin, Chipper was then provided with delivery tracking information which showed that they were indeed shipped to Turner Field and signed for by a Mr. Jones.
That’s hilarious! Hey Larry, I’ll sell you mine for $869,000…
Larry’s been getting the best of us for more than a decade…
It feels good to finally get the best of him.

Went to my first Mets game, a Mayors Trophy game at Shea, in '73. We beat the Yankees 8-4 and I was hooked. I marched in two Banner Day parades, and before the Grand Slam single, there was the "Hendu Can Do" grand slam - I was there. I've collected Mets memorabilia all my life and started Mets Merized Online to feed my addiction.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!.. waaaaaaaaaaWWWWWW! “…he slide into my glove.” WAAAAAA! WAAA! “The game was stolen from us.”
LOVE IT! I WANY more Larry!
Larry says: “The baseball Gods owe them one?” How many times did they get the 7 inch to 1 & 1/2 foot call on the outside corner when Maddux, Glavine, & Smoltz were winning your division titles? You went 14 years atop the 2 divisions won a W.S., and appeared in what 4 or 5 W.S.? If that is not the baseball Gods smiling on you, I don’t know what is. I guess its a case of what have you done for me lately or something. Now if any team outside the Cubs (who must have made their deal with the Devil a hundred years + ago) It’s the Mets who need some favor. I am still burnt from the 2000 loss to the Skanks. Piazza & crew really deserved a W.S. win in a Met uni. Alas the BB Gods sought different. Game 7, 2006, need I say more? So Larry, just shut your piehole and relish the fact that you will be a HOFer and probably known as the 3rd best switchhitter in baseball histry behind Mantle & Murray. Owe you one, I’ll owe you a slap you half a sissey!
You know what – they didn’t play a perfect game – you don’t let the lead off guy hit a double in the bottom of the 9th when your away. Sure, I too, believe he was out, but thats baseball, just like Victorino was out last week, but didn’t get the call.
A team with fight and heart over comes bad calls that what the Mets did last week and thats NOT what the Braves did last night.
All the talk of no heart, etc……..when people are ready to spew it, think of these little moments and rethink the comment.

Kay…seriously now…..who says this team has no heart?????
Are you seriously telling me that people don’t spew that out all the time, especially if they lose? Didn’t YOU call the team lazy referring to Monday’s game?
I called the team lazy and sloppy when Santana is on the mound. Look at the stats….they make way too many errors and give him no run support.
And like I and someone else on the other thread responded to you, this blog has many different authors and opinions; however, it seems like you have a problem which just about everyone of them. If that’s the case, I don’t see why you post in here.
Funny I agreed with this entire thread just added more or don’t you understand what I wrote?
Funny you tell me that there are many authors and opinons then tell me not to post because you don’t like my opinions.
Whatever. Good game good recap

Kay…I understand what you wrote but you yet way too passionate about other people’s feelings. Telling that guy Doug that you don’t see the point of his thread was out of line. Saying in the first sentence that you “appreciate the time he put into it” doesn’t make it better.
Actually, I think you also take the Mets a little bit too personally. It’s one thing to be a fan, but sometimes your passion is a bit over the top. If people want to blast the team, let them do it. It’s not your place to find fault with what everyone has to say.
Fine
Ok – guilty party of being too passionate. Sorry, and I will take your words to heart. Just as you find it frustrating when they lose games they should win (which I do share, but apparently am not articulating properly), I sometimes find it annoying reading comments after a loss (especially after a nice win streak) about them not caring, no heart etc…….
So be it – I do have a choice to not read the comments that I think are completely off base.
I will make a better effort at just letting others people worlds fly while containing my own.
LGM YGB
comeon guys, we won!!! Now kiss and makeup! lol
LOL ok Mike
I just wanted Kay to see how unreasonable she can be at times…..she is just taking things way too personal.
Did Larry forget that for almost a decade the umps had a strike zone that was up to 8 in’s. wider then the plate for the BRAVES only for their three starting pitchers when they won the division for so many years?
They had plenty of help from the umps then Larry, and I heard no complaints from you then?
Hey Fredsaid, that is an excellent point! I forgot all about that. Somebody should have reminded Chipper of it. All those called strike threes!!!!
