Jose Sanchez got oblierated for 10 hits and 8 runs in 3.1 innings, and the bullpen wasn’t a whole lot better, giving up 9 hits and 7 runs in 4.2 innings as the Mets were overwhelmed by the RockCats.

The offense did managed to gather 11 hits, 5 walks and 7 runs, but were in such an early hole, they did most of that in extensive garboge time [/Marv Albert]. The Mets were 4 for 12 with RISP and left 9 men on base. Emmanuel Garcia had another multi hit game, his 4th in a row and 5th in the last 6, he’s 17 for his last 46 to push his average back up to the mid .270s. DJ Wabick and Jake Eigsti also had multi hit games, while Ruben Tejada, who had been white hot coming into today, took the only 0-fer, going 0 for 4 to drop his average down to .274.

Brad Holt had another great outing today (6 ip, 3 h, 1/6 bb/k), and since his horrific outing on opening day, has been flat out dominant, having allowed just 5 earned runs in 37.2 innings, for a 1.12 era. Brant Rustich made his first appearance in 9 days, working the final 3 innings in dominant fashion for his 2nd save of the season.

The Mets offense hammered out 14 hits and drew 4 walks, and was paced by a 4 hit performance from Greg Veloz. Ike Davis, Matt Watson and Brahiam Maldonado also had multi hit games, while Matt Bouchard (0 for 3, run, BB, .205) took the only 0-fer. The Mets were just 2 for 12 with RISP and left 11 on base.
