Perez Not Hopping, Keith Thinks Jackie Has Big Feet

Hey, did anyone else just notice that Oliver Perez didn’t skip over the foul line like he usually does after the first?

It’s the first time I’ve seen him end the first inning without his customary hop over the line as he is heading to the dugout.

Keith Hernandez just got a chance to speak with Rachel Robinson in the booth. His first words?

“First of all, I never knew Jackie Robinson had such big feet.”

That was funny as hell, lol

Went to my first Mets game, a Mayors Trophy game at Shea, in '73. We beat the Yankees 8-4 and I was hooked. I marched in two Banner Day parades, and before the Grand Slam single, there was the "Hendu Can Do" grand slam - I was there. I've collected Mets memorabilia all my life and started Mets Merized Online to feed my addiction.

  • Keith is a jokester

  • HAPPY RON HODGES DAY!!!
I think it is really great that every year now MLB lets all players wear the great # 42 of Ron Hodges. Yeah I know he was only a backup his entire career, but who could forget that double he hit coming off the bench to nearly bring the Mets within 3 runs of the Pirates in that game back in ’78, or that time he caught Jose Cardinal attempting to steal (even if it was at 7-11 and not during the game), or that time he went out to the mound and told Nino Espinosa to “just throw strikes”. I’m sure he is relaxing back home in Rocky Mount, NC tonight, chugging down a cold one, and enjoying his special day. Congrats Ron, you earned it!

  • YES, LOL. I noticed that immediately! I looked around for anyone who noticed, I was the only one.

  • They were all wearing number 42 for my guy Roger McDowell!
