4/14 Minor League Report!
Buffalo 3, Scranton 5 in 11 innings Jon Niese’s second start of the season was a bit better then his first (not that that’s saying much…), he allowed 8 hits and 3 runs (2 earned, thanks to a PB and error by Omir Santos), over 5 innings. Eddie Kunz worked 3 scoreless innings behind Niese, allowing 2 hits and striking out 5. Carlos Muniz took the loss, giving up 2 runs in his 3rd inning [...]

Did Mets Miss Opportunity Knocking?
Joel Sherman of the NY Post, believes the Mets may have blundered when they decided against adding Orlando Hudson, especially after his price went down to one year, $4 million dollars. Orlando Hudson hit for the cycle on Monday against the Giants. It is interesting that the two players Met fans pined for most this offseason – Hudson and Manny Ramirez – both have ended up with the Dodgers. Imagine, say, the Dodgers beating out [...]

Mets Alumni: Lastings Milledge Demoted To Minors
As reported by mlb.com, the Nationals optioned center fielder Lastings Milledge to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. The club has not announced a corresponding move. Milledge is off to a slow start, batting .167 (4-for-24) with one RBI, while playing mediocre defense in center. The team had warned Milledge about a possible demotion since Opening Day. Members of the organization were upset that Milledge was late for a meeting held by manager Manny Acta the day [...]

Is Big Pelf Really Big?
If you’re talking about his stature and his 6’7″ frame, than by all accounts Mike Pelfrey has earned the nickname of “Big Pelf”. However, if the word “big” is supposed to be indicative of his performance level when he takes the mound, well I’m not buying it. Not yet anyway. The Mets must have bought into the hype when they decided Pelfrey was big enough to be a number two starter on a team that [...]

Where Is Jose Reyes?
Since 2006, it’s been said that “As Jose Reyes goes, so do the Mets.” So far, after a scant seven games into the season, the Mets find themselves sitting in 4th place with a 3-4 record. Jose Reyes hasn’t exactly lit things up at the plate or even on the basepaths. It was maddening to see him get called out at second base last night while trying to stretch a single into a double. It [...]

My Day At Citi Field
I had a different blog that I was going to do for my weekly piece but since last night was the first official game played at Citi Field and I attended the game I thought our readers would like an inside account of my experience at the new field. For the last couple of years now we have been hearing from the Mets about the future home of the New York Mets. I was very [...]

Game Recap: Mets Lose Opener To Pads 6-5
The Mets came within inches of a win when David Wright blasted the first Mets homer at Citi Field, a three run shot that tied the game at 5-5, but the Mets flamed out after that and lost 6-5 to the Padres. Mike Pelfrey started but it didn’t take long for him to get into trouble when the first batter of the game Jody Gerut homered to put the Padres up 1-0. In the second [...]

4/13 Minor League Report! Fernando!
Buffalo 5, Scranton 6 Brandon Knight’s first start of the season was pretty bad, he surrendered 8 hits and 5 runs in 5 innings, though he did strike out 7. He escaped the loss because Kei Igawa pitched just as pitifully for the AAA Yankees (how big of a disaster was that signing, lol). Jon Switzer allowed a run in his 1.1 innings of work, taking the loss. Connor Robertson and Elmer Dessens worked 2.2 [...]

Wright Hits First Mets Homer At Citi!
David Wright just hit the first Mets homerun at Citi Field, and it wasn’t just your ordinary homerun… With the Mets down by three runs in the bottom of the fifth, Dan Murphy and Jose Reyes were on first and third and the crowd was getting raucous. Then, Wright took a 3-2 pitch into the deep into the night over the leftfield wall to tie the game up. It was dramatic shot and hopefully it [...]
