Following yesterday’s game, Mets manager Jerry Manuel spoke to reporters at his post game presser and said that he will use his current starting pitchers one more time through the rotation. But he also cautioned that if things do not get better, he will make some changes.
“It’s not rocket science,” Manuel said. “If they ain’t pitching, then you’ve got to find somebody who will.”
I don’t know what he possibly could do as a manager other than keep pitching them… I mean unless Omar goes out and lands him some new arms, what exactly can he do?
If you’re going to make a statement like that at least back it up. Sure Redding is a week or two away, but I don’t think he’s going to scare any of his starters into pitching better by letting them think Redding will take their spot in the rotation.
Does anybody really believe that if Oliver Perez gives up five runs in his next start that he’ll be bounced from the rotation?
Manuel also said he would probably add an additional relief pitcher to the bullpen for this weekend’s series against the Nationals.
Does he clear this stuff with Omar before hand?
I got an idea, why not call up Nelson Figueroa? Oh yeah, he ditched up after we ditched him…

Poor Jerry Manuel is waving a gun around but everyone exceopt him knows that it’s not loaded. I thought he was a gangsta?
We either sweep the Nats or blow it all up and rebuild. Tweaking isn’t going to fix what’s wrong with this rotation. See if the Yankees will trade us Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain and Robinson Cano for Johan Santana.
I hope he’s serious.
Maine and/or Pelfry (depending on their next outing) should pitch from the bullpen and Parnell should be given a start. Or do the same with Ollie. As usual, its the little things that the Mets are horrible at – like DFA’ing Nelson Figueroa. Stupid move.
