4/26 Minor League Report!

Buffalo 0, Syracuse 4

It was Dillon Gee’s turn to get shellacked today, as the Bisons lost yet again, their 14th loss in 16 games. Gee gave up 4 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings, taking his 3rd loss. Jon Switzer and Carlos Muniz each pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief, but the Bisons mustered nothing on offense, with just 7 hits and 3 walks. The team was 0 for 7 with RISP and left 9 on base. Fernando Martinez and Rene Rivera (0 for 4, .182) took 0-fers, while Jon Malo had a multi hit game.

Michael Antonini turned in a so called quality start (6 innings, 3 earned), and 4 relievers held the Fisher Cats to just 2 hits over the final 3 innings, as the Mets won 4-3 and pulled to within a game of New Hampshire in the division.

The Mets had 7 hits and 5 walks, en route to scoring 4 runs, but they were 1 for 7 with RISP and left 8 on base. All the hits came from 3 players, Ruben Tejada (2 for 5, 2b, 3 RBI, .235), Shawn Bowman (2 for 3, 2 runs, HR, RBI, .270), and Carl Loadenthal (3 for 4, run, .333). Everyone else took 0-fers.

Each of the Met pitchers tonight gave up a run, with Emary Frederick surrendering the decider with 1 down in the 9th, after walking two and allowing a walkoff double. Brad Holt and Nick Carr each went 4 innings allowing a run (Carr’s was unearned due to a Zach Lutz error). Holt allowed 4 hits, Carr allowed one, while walking 2.

The Mets offense had just 5 hits and 3 walks, and were 0 for 7 with RISP, leaving 6 men on base. Their only runs came on a Carlos Guzman 2 run homer in the 7th inning, which briefly tied the game. Guzman had the only multi hit game tonight, while the top 4 in the Mets order (Veloz, Nieuwenhuis, Havens, Lutz) were a combined 0 for 12 with 5 Ks. Seth Williams also took an 0-fer (0 for 3, K, .296).

Elvin Ramirez had a disasterous outing today, his first awful one of the season, he didn’t finish 3 innings, lasting just 2.2, allowing 6 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks to take his first loss. Manuel Olivares allowed 2 runs in 3.1 innings of long relief, and Jimmy Johnson finished it off with 2 scoreless.

The Gnats had just 6 hits on the day, and went 2 for 4 with RISP, leaving 4 on base. Jean Luc Blaquiere (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .176), Josh Satin (0 for 4, .358) and Stefan Welch (0 for 3, .000) took 0-fers.
