Freddy Garcia Accepts Assignment To Minors
Okay, like 15 minutes ago I posted…
Get ready for an announcement soon on who the fifth starter will be. (psst… it’s Livan). Jerry Manuel hinted that a decision is as close as the next turn in the rotation for Livan and Garcia.
The only real question is if the Mets can convince Freddy Garcia to accept a minor league assignment so they can keep him as an emergency starter.
Umm, the Mets have just announced that Garcia accepted a reassignment to the minor league complex, ending his quest for the fifth spot – for now. He will head to either Class AAA Buffalo or will remain in Port St. Lucie for an extended spring training assignment.
“We’re happy he stayed,” said Mets’ assistant GM John Ricco. “He’s getting better, improving. He could have gone other places, but he’s staying in the organization to see where it goes.”
This only proves that Mets Merized Online is slightly ahead of it’s time.
