2009 Top Ten Overall Hitters

The 2009 Bill James Handbook projects the following hitters to be in the top ten in Runs Created this season.

Hitter Age 2009 Team Runs Created
Albert Pujols 29 Cardinals 159
Miguel Cabrera 26 Tigers 135
Ryan Braun 25 Brewers 134
David Wright 26 Mets 134
Josh Hamilton 28 Rangers 131
Hanley Ramirez 25 Marlins 131
Ryan Howard 29 Phillies 130
Mark Teixeira 29 Yankees 130
Alex Rodriguez 33 Yankees 128
Lance Berkman 33 Astros 127

Note: Age is seasonal as of June 30, 2009.

I didn’t expect to see Miguel Cabrera ranked so high or Alex Rodriguez so low. It’s nice to know that the highly regarded Bill James expects a huge season from David Wright.

On another note, I think Mets.com is having some issues…

At 4:04 PM they posted an article entitled: Anderson caps another rally for Mets

At 4:56 PM they posted an article entitled: Anderson’s bat aiding Reed’s chances

About the Author: Joe DeCaro

Went to my first Mets game, a Mayors Trophy game at Shea, in '73. We beat the Yankees 8-4 and I was hooked. I marched in two Banner Day parades, and before the Grand Slam single, there was the "Hendu Can Do" grand slam - I was there. I've collected Mets memorabilia all my life and started Mets Merized Online to feed my addiction.

  • I think David Wright will have a big year, hopefully he and the rest of the team can stay healthy. This is a really great top ten list, you can post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and then link back to your site. We are looking for top ten lists and our users can track back to your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
