Mets Outlook For 2009 Season

Here is a 2009 Mets outlook from Sports Illustrated’s point of view. For a complete team-by-team look at the National League entering spring training, read the full article at SI.com. Coming off their second consecutive September collapse, the Mets were called “choke artists” by Philadelphia ace Cole Hamels. The only effective response would be a playoff berth. New York spent the offseason in pursuit of pitching and overhauled a horrendous bullpen by signing Rodriguez and [...]

Baseball Dies With The Player’s Association

Imagine a clear, blue summer day. The sun is shining brightly and you are on your way out the door to see a baseball game. Upon arriving to the stadium, the only thing you hear is dead silence. There are no other fans walking around. No children excited to see their favorite baseball players. No sounds of the crack of the bats during warm-ups. Nothing! Just silence! Then you suddenly remember what happened. The Players [...]

Latest Mets Rumors: Abreu, Castro, Ohman, Ayala

The rumor mill continues to churn as spring training rolls in later this week. The Ramon Castro trade rumors won’t subside, and like the saying goes… where there’s smoke there’s fire. MLB Trade Rumors reports that Baseball America’s John Perrotto has sources that tell him the Mets are still actively pursuing a trade for Ramon Castro. I only wonder why the Mets have waited so late in the off season to address this latest concern [...]

MLB.com Fantasy Baseball Rankings

The MLB Fantasy Baseball Rankings have came out, and they have ranked 800 players. I don’t take too much stock in the fantasy rankings, but its also nice to see your players recognized. One debate I hear a lot with Mets fans is who is better, Reyes or Wright? Well MLB.com also has a hard time deciding as they ranked Wright number 4 and then Reyes number 5. Here are MLB.com’s top 10 players:     1. [...]

Freddy Garcia Will Be A Big Sleeper This Season

If you were like me, you probably didn’t even bat an eyelash when you heard that the Mets signed starting pitcher Freddy Garcia. I just looked at it as another one of those classic Omar Minaya moves. You know the ones.. Minaya has become quite adept at resurrecting the careers of players who were left on the side of the road for dead. Some of the most recent examples include Jose Valentin, Damion Easley, Fernando Tatis, [...]

The Steroids Situation

In the midst of the stunning allegations that Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroids in 2003, it had me thinking about the Mets and their own history with steroids. Kirk Radomski, former clubhouse man, was dealing steroids to players and was one of George Mitchell’s primary sources for the Mitchell Report. Radomski was caught and pleaded guilty to dealing anabolic steroids, along with several other charges. He received 5 year’s probation and an $18,575 fine [...]

A-Rod Tests Positive For Steroids

SI.com is reporting that Yankees third baseman tested positive for steroids in 2003, the same season he led the league in homeruns and won the MVP award. In 2003, when he won the American League home run title and the AL Most Valuable Player award as a shortstop for the Texas Rangers, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steroids, four sources have independently told Sports Illustrated. Rodriguez’s name appears on a list of 104 [...]
