I’M PURELY SPECULATING HERE; BUT SINCE THE NAME “CITI” IS A COMMERCIAL BRANDNAME. IT WOULD BE PRECLUDED FROM ADORNING THE JERSEY BY RULES GOVERNING THE CORP SPONSORSHIP GUIDELINES, I SUPPOSE THEY’RE MORE LAX IN DEALING WITH THE CAPS THAN THE JERSEYS. HAVING MOVED OUT OF THE ENTIRE METRO AREA IN ’90, I SUPPOSE THE SPLIT-SCREEN RECTANGLE IS THE GEOMETRIC SYMBOL EMPLOYED BY CITIBANK & SANS NAME IS CONSIDERED INNOCUOUS.

That hat makes me think I’m looking Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the Dayton 500. It doesn’t look too bad but doesn’t add anything either. I like the visual simplicity of a plain batting helmet. The uniform has enough logos and details without another one on the hat.

For the record, that patch was not in response to the “Dominos” logo or anything…This patch was designed by the Mets (Citi made the other), and it was done before the Citi patch was submitted.

Here’s the scoop about the patch according to the Mets press release:
The Mets will wear a new cap for the entirety of the 2009 season featuring a patch on the left side commemorating the opening of Citi Field. The team will wear the new caps on Monday for team photos, and then the caps will debut officially on Opening Day.
In a nutshell… yes they are wearing the new patches on the hats but the dominoes logo stays on the jersey…

Oddly enuff i was @ the mall last nite and went to modells and came across this cap along with the all black one and purchased both . So u can imagine what kind of state of shock i was in when i saw them
