Winter Meetings News: Add B.J. Ryan To Available Closers
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, is reporting that the Blue Jays would have no hesitation in dealing closer B.J. Ryan if they are overwhelmed by an offer. The key word being, “overwhelmed”.
Sorry, no thanks. With the glut of closers available in this year’s market, there is no reason for the Mets to overpay for a closer.
Cafardo, also mentions that the Reds are in the market for a lefty reliever since they lost Jeremy Affeldt.
Maybe we could pawn Scott Schoeneweis off on them?
Last month there were some rumors that starting pitcher Bronson Arroyo was available in a trade.
Arroyo won 15 games last season with a 4.77 ERA. The 31 year old, right hander has pitched .500 in his career and owns a 4.31 ERA over nine seasons.
He’s got a good clubhouse personality and has shown an ability to kick it up a notch in a big game, sort of like Oliver Perez once did for us.
It’s worth a shot…
