i agree, i dnt like castillo that much but this season could be much different if he's healthy, plus he has that big contract, maybe trade him in the next offseason

Finally some people making sense! I know castillo isn't what he was made out to be, but even on an OFF year he is on the same level as hudson. If by some chance he has a year like he had a few seasons ago, his number will surpass hudson's in every category. It would be asinine to get someone like hudson to replace him. Not worth it. And I'm NOT a castillo fan!

I'm with David. Castillo even in his worst year (2008) is still almost as productive as Hudson.
Why not give a healthy Castillo a shot to play. We can always make a chance early on in the year id it's obvious Castillo is not going to be productive. Lets say for the sake of argument that the Mets pull off a miracle and get rid of Castillo while at the same time somehow obtaining Hudson. Where does that leave us? It leaves us with the same type of player hitting second who will have a lower On Base Percentage, steal less runs and score less runs. ANd what do we get in reutrn? ?? Better defence? Better attitude? Hudson's defence is not THAT much better than Castillo. I just don't belevie the mets are anywhere near as emotional as their fans. The Mets will keep Castillo a HEALTHY Castilo simply becasue it's good buiness rather than pay a price to get rid of a player whom their fans have associated with losing.

Hey david, i dont need a power hitter in the 2 spot. i need a guy to get reyes from first to second or second to home. hes a good/ smart hitter and he knows how to play the game. hes good all around, has a great glove at second and is younger. dont give him 4 years!!!!!

Why does everyone think that a Orlando Hudson is such a significant upgrade over Luis Castillo?!?! Orlando Hudson has no power at all, only averages about 50-70 rbis a year when hes healthy, and is another injury waiting to happen. Orlando Hudson is Luis Castillo 2.0 in my opinion.

We cannot let the hatred of Luis Castillo cloud our judgment in player evaluation. Jose Guillen is simply atrocious, especially for a corner OF. I would MUCH rather have Castillo than Guillen.
Guillen's OBP last year was .300. Do you realize how awful that is? He's also due $12 million each of the next 2 seasons and is, by all accounts, a complete a-hole.
Additionally, he is a poor OF at this point in his career. He has nothing going for him. I'd much rather have Castillo and a Tatis/Murphy platoon then Guillen and Hudson. This is my opinion based on objective player analysis, and not just "OMG I HATE CASTILLO".

come on Omar!!! Castillo for Guillen swap? allows us to sign Hudson, and we got our right handed batting left fielder, even though Guillen has an attitude.
