Mets Trade Schoeneweis To Arizona
Mets.com is reporting that the Mets have traded Scott Schoeneweis to the Arizona Diamondbacks for righthand pitcher Connor Robertson.
Here is the press release:
The New York Mets tonight acquired righthanded relief pitcher Connor Robertson from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for lefthanded pitcher Scott Schoeneweis and cash considerations.
Robertson, 27, was 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in nine games with Arizona this past season. In 7.0 innings, he allowed eight hits, four runs, earned, with two walks and two strikeouts. In addition, the 6-2, 220-pounder went 7-4 with a 5.02 ERA in 47 contests with Tucson (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. In 71.2 innings, he surrendered 69 hits, 45 runs, 40 earned, with 30 walks and 72 strikeouts.
“We’re happy to acquire Connor Robertson,” said Mets General Manager Omar Minaya. “He has a solid minor league track record and he’s a good addition to our system.”
Robertson is 29-13 with 24 saves a 2.82 ERA in 217 career minor league games. In 305.0 innings, he’s allowed 268 hits, 136 runs, 113 earned, with 123 walks and 382 strikeouts.
Well the Schow must go on…
Schoeneweis, 35, pitched in 73 games last season for the Mets, going 2-6 with a 3.34 ERA with one save and 15 holds. He was tied for seventh in the National League among left-handers in holds last season, while left-handed batters hit .178 (18-for-101) against him, the seventh-lowest average among all Major League relief pitchers (minimum 100 at-bats) and second-lowest among left-handers.
Bet you didn’t know that…

So aside from Feliciano, we have no lefties in the pen?
That would seem to be the case at the moment. Except for the two minor league contracts they signed last week with spring invites.
hey Joe, this makes no friggin sense. Sho is one mighty fine lefty specialist. He just wasnt used correctly. Do you think this is nothing more than a salary dump to make room for Lowe and Ollie?
it looks like a salary dump to me…
Who the Hell is this guy?And I’m hoping that means they dumping some salary to sign lowe or manny or even both.
I don’t kow if I am happy if he is gone or not…I am definetly happy we didn’t have the ’07 version anymore…but last year he did a pretty good job…I mean he had his ups and downs just like anyother, but against everyone else in there he was basically one of the best…so I don’t know how I feel.
wow…look how the tides have turned..everyone sees how good scho did for us and now everyone regrets it. you fans were the ones begging for him to leave. i knew he was good last year and if he left we would only have one lefty left. you people are two-faced fools.
They gained less than 2 million with this trade but lets be honest..The big schoe wore out his welcome. He’s a fine lefty specialist but I would have taken mo vaughn over this chump. LGM
I’m happy he’s gone (despite the 08 numbers…they’re no guarantee of an 09 repeat, and I wouldn’t want to risk getting 07 Schoen-sh*t next year), though I wish we’d have gotten more out of him. But, the positives outweigh the negatives IMO on this one.
Hooray!!!!!!!!!!
Great trade Omar!!!!!!!!!! we got rid of Sho!! Scott Schoenweis, i will not miss you!
